4 steps to comfy chic: Start with a SIMPLE DRESS, sport a comfy SNEAKER, add a chic BLAZER, and finish it off with a BASEBALL HAT. How easy is that? And did I mention the dress is under $30? If you’re wondering how make a simple cotton dress more sophisticated? Add a blazer. The latter immediately adds a chic factor. I’m loving a camel and navy combination, but this blazer also works with this black dress. I believe when you’re comfortable, you’re sexy. Don’t overthink the details, invest in the basics and you’ll have countless outfits to choose from. Happy Tuesday!

One of my favorites, SHOPBOP, (they carry velvet sneakers and my trusty leather jacket you see in all my instagrams) is having their annual sale! It’s a great time to stock up. Save up to 25% off. Don’t forget to use code: GOBIG17. Shop my favorites below:

Hats are great to make any outfit more casual. I’m loving baseball hats on bad hair days, like today, or just to make an outfit less formal. A real quick way to make an outfit look put together and chic is a baseball cap and topcoat. Underneath I have a simple turtleneck and jeans. When I’m out running around with my boys while the girls are at school, we usually have lots of errands to run and all I need are easy separates and a chic coat. See more casual chic HERE. And here are a couple topcoats I’m loving from around the web. Happy Tuesday!

I partnered with Sheryl from Walk in Wonderland to show two ways to wear stripes. They’re so classic and it was fun to see her sophisticated take and my ‘relaxed’ version. I met Sheryl when I first moved to LA and love hearing her adventures in and around Los Angeles with her and her husband (who shoots most of all of her work). When she’s not enjoying spicy food in and around the LA hot spots, she travels with her husband and runs the successful blog Walk In Wonderland. Which I’ll mention, is worth your time to check out. Also follow her on IG, @walkinwonderland. I’m so thankful to have met so many creative people since moving to LA a year ago that inspire me daily! See also HERE where I styled stripes. Thank you Sheryl for coming on the blog. Who inspires you?

LA has been around 50 degree’s every morning, so layers are non-negotiable. Here, I wore a camisole, soft sweater, distressed black jeans, and go-to black boots. This outfit would also look good with a denim jacket or a faux fur coat. These black layers are wonderful basics for your closet!

How was your weekend? If I’m honest, I’m lying in bed under the weather after one of our busiest weekends yet since moving to LA. Lots of fun projects and our first beach day of 2017, so no regrets. If you’re in need of some style inspiration for the week, wear camouflage! Here, I styled it with neutral grays  and a neutral bag. As a styling rule of thumb, treat camouflage like leopard. Don’t wear it head to toe, and compliment it with neutrals. Viola, weekday casual at its best.

Sometimes cozy looks a lot less like a bathrobe and a lot more like a cozy off the shoulder sweater and jeans, am I right? See more of how to master the cozy look HERE. Happy Humpday!

Here’s a sneak peek of the “athleisure” pieces I’ve been loving lately, I mean, how great is this mesh top? What’s better than mixing an everyday trench coat with a mesh workout top and leggings? So fun and secretly, soooo comfy.

Without further adieu, the winner of the Jane Pope turquoise ring giveaway is . . . . . Amanda (who has been notified via email). Huge Congrats Amanda!! And thank you to ALL of you who entered. Means a lot for you to stop by my blog, not only reading and entering but commenting! I loved reading all your favorites and why. Partnering with Nordstrom is always a favorite job because their style and selection never disappoints, which makes my job that much easier. Today I’m going to go out on a limb and make a case for the lesser known cousin to traditional denim, the coated denim. With all the denim everywhere, it’s always good to mix it up. Here are my top 5 faves from Nordstrom.  The burgundy denim boasts a post-Christmas, binge-friendly lycra waistband, a flattering leg, and not to mention, an awesome price. As soon as these arrived in the mail, I tried them on, did my usual tight-jean dance and called these a winner. As for styling tips, I went with my usual size and paired it with an oversize distressed sweater and my husband’s scarf. The latter was meant to be a Christmas gift to him, but like I always tell the kids, “Sharing is Caring.” See also how I styled a scarf with Nordstrom HERE and shop my coated denim look below. Which was your favorite?

Thank you Nordstrom for partnering on this post! All opinions are my own.

Ramp up your basics with a camel coat (3/4 sleeve), and updated heels. I’m loving these slouchy jeans and cashmere sweater both from Vince. I tend to gravitate towards classic pieces, like a stripe top and flattering jeans, because I’ll probably wear them more than I’d like to admit, and they never go out of style. In other words, investment pieces. All of which I plan to wear for the upcoming date night over break. Can’t wait. In the meantime, read about our engagement story HERE. Merry Merry Christmas!

Sometimes all you need is a pink trench vest to lighten things up. I’m loving this one draped over my almost all black ensemble, perfect with heels or sneakers. While we’re talking trench coats, read all about how I styled this classic trench. Stay tuned for a fun giveaway coming up.

Happy Tuesday!
