What’s easier on the weekend than a racer back cotton dress and sneakers? I love it also paired with pointy heels and a blazer. It’s a long to-do list as it’s my last weekend in LA, before we head to Chicago. So, easy dresses and sneakers it is. And did I mention this dress is only $59? I can’t wait for tonight’s Cinco de Mayo party than packing. Happy weekend!

I lived in paris for 3 months, and besides the hit my credit card took in those three months (yikes), I actually learned about just how the french dress. Always so chic, so pulled together, so polished, and I’m always drooling over their accessory choices, Hermès scarf anyone? Basically, it’s all about which items to invest in. Read on:

1. don’t underestimate the power of red. My friend found this leather skirt second hand vintage. Looove. I also like red accessories like a red lipred bag or red heels.

2. layer with a trench, I usually size down to get a more tailored look. I like this one and this one. Layer it over jeans and a tee for a laid back look.

3. no make up, no problem. When in doubt, sunnies are an easy way to polish a look.

4. don’t forget one luxury item: Hermès belt here or a luxury bag or shoes. I don’t mind pairing Levi’s, a cheap tee, and Chanel flats. Pas de problème.

When asked how best to style dark jeans, I opt for whites and neutrals. Specifically a white off the shoulder top, (I prefer arm inserts for a good fit), clear or neutral bag, and wrap neutral heels. The one’s I’m wearing are almost sold out, but these also are a close second. What are your go-to’s? Also, stay tuned for a fun event I’m hosting in Santa Monica, this Tuesday, March 7, can’t wait!

4 steps to comfy chic: Start with a SIMPLE DRESS, sport a comfy SNEAKER, add a chic BLAZER, and finish it off with a BASEBALL HAT. How easy is that? And did I mention the dress is under $30? If you’re wondering how make a simple cotton dress more sophisticated? Add a blazer. The latter immediately adds a chic factor. I’m loving a camel and navy combination, but this blazer also works with this black dress. I believe when you’re comfortable, you’re sexy. Don’t overthink the details, invest in the basics and you’ll have countless outfits to choose from. Happy Tuesday!

One of my favorites, SHOPBOP, (they carry velvet sneakers and my trusty leather jacket you see in all my instagrams) is having their annual sale! It’s a great time to stock up. Save up to 25% off. Don’t forget to use code: GOBIG17. Shop my favorites below:

Hats are great to make any outfit more casual. I’m loving baseball hats on bad hair days, like today, or just to make an outfit less formal. A real quick way to make an outfit look put together and chic is a baseball cap and topcoat. Underneath I have a simple turtleneck and jeans. When I’m out running around with my boys while the girls are at school, we usually have lots of errands to run and all I need are easy separates and a chic coat. See more casual chic HERE. And here are a couple topcoats I’m loving from around the web. Happy Tuesday!

I partnered with Sheryl from Walk in Wonderland to show two ways to wear stripes. They’re so classic and it was fun to see her sophisticated take and my ‘relaxed’ version. I met Sheryl when I first moved to LA and love hearing her adventures in and around Los Angeles with her and her husband (who shoots most of all of her work). When she’s not enjoying spicy food in and around the LA hot spots, she travels with her husband and runs the successful blog Walk In Wonderland. Which I’ll mention, is worth your time to check out. Also follow her on IG, @walkinwonderland. I’m so thankful to have met so many creative people since moving to LA a year ago that inspire me daily! See also HERE where I styled stripes. Thank you Sheryl for coming on the blog. Who inspires you?

I’m kind of obsessed with odd tees. Whether it be its shape, a random bow, unsymmetrical length, or a middle split, I’m diggin’ it. Of course, comfort is a huge plus and one that everybody should just assume. We have too many great options (and life stress!) to wear uncomfortable clothes. Because I’m not a cute-skirt-matching-separates type dresser, stylish comfy tees are a mainstay. If they have an edge to them, well shucks, all the better. More style with less time always wins points with me. Here’s my slim 4 favorites edit below.

1. Split Sweatshirt

2. Thumbhole Crew

3. Drape V back Tee

4. Chic tank
