I’m not sure about you, but for us date night is less about that trying out that hip, new restaurant and more about escaping the zoo, aka children. But whether we hit up Chipotle or The Ivy, it’s always nice to dress up. I mean, it’s still a date, right? Here are 4 date night looks that will carry you from sushi to sake without skipping a beat, and most are under $100. So save room for dessert.

Normally, we are battling the ice and snow right now. But here we’re being spoiled with mid sixty degree days. Helllloooo LA! Here I found an awesome texture coat from Cleobella that I’m in looooove with. It’s seriously just cotton and warm on chilly nights. So how to wear it? Balance the color and texture with an all black ensemble, small crossbody bag and pop of cobalt. And yes, I’ll be rocking it this weekend. What’s your weekend plans? We’ll spend the weekend unpacking boxes, visiting my cousin in Laguna, and looking for recipes to use with all those avocado and lemons from our backyard. Happy Weekend!

As a stylist, I’m often asked what items are worth dropping some serious cash on. Without hesitation, a leather jacket is always at the top of my list, whether your taste is more real leather, faux suede or faux leather under $100. Here are my top five, with pretty much something for everyone. And if you need that extra push, the logic behind the madness, if you will, please consider the cost-per-wear (CPW) angle. Take, for example, a pale pink ACNE STUDIOS leather jacket. If you wear it 150 days out of the year, it costs $13.33 per wear. Now, I’m far from a math major, but that’s clear enough to convince me to go for it. So, keeping the CPW in mind, you’re actually saving money rocking your moto jacket countless ways, whether it be with a pencil skirt OR sushi-date-ready lace dress. Now, that’s a brilliant idea.

As lovely as Christmas is, I think everybody can probably agree that it can be a mite stressful. Or a lot stressful. So to survive the “Christmas Vortex,” I hit the spa with a friend. Smart, right? We went to the Dana Spa where I booked the natural lift facial and my friend, Diana, chose a 50 minute massage. Pure bliss. My favorite parts were the arm massages and the galvanic spa. Once you manage to haul yourself off the table and stop the sniffling because your spa experience has now ended, cucumber and strawberry infused water will continue the recovery, and before you know it, you’re back with the land of living and ready to tackle that gift for the impossible Aunt Louise. Thank you, Dana Spa for a lovely morning!

It is always amazing how the most wonderful plan can go awry with kids. It seems so lovely when you are planning it in your head. There are Christmas carols in the background and everybody is smiling and a light snow is softly floating around us as we walk to The Nutcracker at the Joffrey. Right. So what really happened on the day of the show was that we somehow went to the Joffrey office–walking in Hurricane Katrina wind, no snow in sight–instead of the theater, making us late, which in turn had us waiting around in the upstairs holding area. Everybody really loved that part. So far, so bad. And then we were seated, behind the orchestra pit! And then … it was magic. I really can’t say it any other way. My girls were entranced; my boys were enthralled; the hubs and I were thrilled. It was everything you would expect from The Nutcracker by the Joffrey Ballet Company. The music, the jumping, the beautiful, beautiful ballerinas … and to top it all off, the Radison Blu hosted a family event for Friends of the Joffrey right after the performance. The kids are still talking about the face painting, ballet slippers, and Rudolph crafts! It was a night for the books. Many many thanks to the Joffrey Ballet for the wonderful night!
