I love sweats, don’t get me wrong,  I even wore them traveling yesterday, but I think we all would agree, it’s difficult to feel glamorous in them. Curious? Read on:

4 Ways to Look Polished in Sweats:

FLESH COLOR ELONGATES. Make sure its nude – flesh colored sandals elongate the leg, especially heels. I also like these stripe sandals with an all white look.

MAKE A POINT. If you’re a flats girl and can’t wear heels like my sister, opt for flats with a point. They will be a lot more flattering.

DON’T GO BAGGY ON TOP. I love these palazzo pants with a slim tank or tee but if I wore a large boxy top, I’d loose my shape. Opt for slim on top for an overall flattering look.

KNOT BAD. Even after I wore this tank to go to coffee with the hubs I decided midday to knot the top. It gave an additional interest and slimming affect – and I liked it better than just a plain tuck. Try it!

5 Tanks and Tees:

Comment with your questions, how do you like to chicly wear sweats? I’m all ears.

Whether we’re visiting Henry Doorley Zoo, picking up Big Fred’s pizza, or looking for a coffee shop in Old Market, Omaha always relaxes the whole family. Maybe its the lack of LA traffic, whatever it is, we had a wonderful time in Omaha. Here I wore a kimono over a tank, black jeans and two-toned sandal. What’s your favorite relaxed outfit?

I’m so excited to partner with Rebecca Minkoff as they launch their new line of watches! I chose this RM gold tone studded leather wrap watch – loved the double wrap because it looks most similar to jewelry. I paired my brown leather accessories with a white overall dress and white top I’m obsessed with because of its ruffle three-quarter sleeve. Such a great buy. See more RM Watches here! Have a great weekend, we’re excited to get back home to LA next week.

I’m loving crochet lately from tanks to tops to dresses and this one is no exception. I’m really thankful for slow date nights catching up over a quiet dinner. Even though we’re too tired to talk some nights, I’m grateful for the time to get away! See some of my favorite dresses below for hot summer nights.

The best way to get out the door is have some favorite basics on hand. I’m loving the embroidered hem on these jeans, linen blend stripes and not too high block heels. And I never leave home without a large mom bag full of snacks, heels, and a small bag.

One of the highlights of visiting the state of Nebraska is visiting my in-laws, and going on dates! Truth be told, we’re usually too tired after a day at the Zoo, Aquarium, visiting great-grandparents, and with our crew of 6. However, we don’t miss this this chance to go out, stress free. For this date night, I paired an under $70 fringe skirt, black tank, wrap heel, with a stripe leather bag. Comfy and chic. I mean, how simple is black and white?

One of my favorite things to do is where a swimsuit as a bodysuit. It’s like a two for one. I paired it with white jeans, lace coverup, wedge espadrilles and a beach tote. Chic and beach ready for lunch appropriate. PS. my suit is only $35. What do you think?

I started out blogging thrifting in Chicago. You would be amazed at what I would find: designer duds and quality basics. It also afforded me the freedom to go bold with my style. For example, I usually would find a $5 tee and $9 crazy stripe pants, so no sweat to the wallet. And if I didn’t end up liking it, I would just donate it back or sell it on my instagram shop @herchicboutique. It was a fun and mildly therapeutic habit. And habit it became. I would get a sitter so I could go down there and thrift. On the days I didn’t have a sitter, I would bring all four kids, two holding the cart (if they were being good) and two inside the cart. I would always bring tons of crackers and cringe at how many we left in our path. Hilarious. But I always found some treasures from Smythe blazers to James Pearse tees to Frame denim just to name a few, all of which I would boast to Reid when he got home. As a stylist, I was in heaven, the suspense of not knowing what I would find was addictive. Fast forward almost 4 years, and I love blogging, and I’m grateful to have brands sending clothes to me. However, occasionally I buy $39 jeans with a great hem, slash the knees and fray wherever necessary. So, that’s exactly what I did for today’s post. I love an under $50 item I don’t freak out when dirt, coffee, and the like get spilled on them. But I’m SO INCREDIBLY grateful for the people and places and faces I have had the pleasure of meeting through my blog and instagram and I will never forget that little dingy thrift shop where it all started, and the countless times my family, my uber driver, my neighbor, etc,  took pictures for me. Thank God. I would not be where I am today.
