5 Wide Leg Pants

by Shalice Noel

4. White pants   (Also cute – Flowy white pants )

If you follow my Sunday pictures, 9/10 times I’m wearing wide leg pants! Wide leg pants can be intimidating and challenging to style, however, I happen to love them. Here are a couple tips to follow. To make you look taller, opt for the stripe pants, secondly, keep your look monochrome, if you’re wearing white pants, wear a white top with a cute jacket or blazer. DO the same for red and black, and the denim high waisted, opt for a crop top or tie a button down shirt. Play around with the proportions and find what works for you. Which is your favorite?

I’m all about being efficient with my morning routine—the less there is to do, the more time I can save, which is where L’Occitane’s new Shea 3-in-1 Cleansing Water comes in. It is seriously the cleansing product I’ve been missing.

I recently did away with lash extensions, so I’ve been trying to find the most gentle cleanser to take off my mascara. I’ve used various products but haven’t settled on one, yet. If I have a little more time in the morning (aka my eldest makes the pancake batter), I’ll go for a deeper cleanse and use Shea Butter Cleansing Oil, but when I’m trying to get everyone out the door, I’ll use the Shea 3-in-1 Cleansing Water. I massage it into my face with closed eyes and dry or wet hands. It becomes a little milky, then I rinse it off with water. Did I mention it smells amazing? I liken it to the combination of baby powder, Shea butter and fresh paper, all rolled into one. Hubby is a fan of the smell too, ha.

After the last rinse, I’m feeling super clean. I finish with Shea Butter Light Comforting Cream for dry to very dry skin. I’ve been told I have dry skin, so I’m definitely not skipping this step. I like that it’s not greasy and I feel fresh and ready for my day. For reference, I use Light Comforting Cream for day and Shea Butter Ultra Rich Comforting cream for evening.

Violà! I’m ready to face my day—kids, school, work, and the LA smog.

While I’m on the topic—here are my overall skincare tips:

– Always wash your face at night. Not washing your face at night can age you, clog your pores and hinder your skin’s ability from repairing itself at night. So it’s kind of IMPORTANT.

– I try and drink 8 glasses of water a day. If that seems overwhelming, try 3 glasses by 12 noon, 3 more by 3, and 2 more before/with dinner – split it up glass by glass.

– Drink fresh squeezed lemon before you eat or drink in the morning. This helps your skin (and digestion!).

– Sleep! Always get 8 hours of sleep at night. This has been extra hard for me (a night owl), but exercise with the kids is helping!

What are some of your skincare tips? PLEASE share!

I am not one to school you on what hats are most flattering, what works for your face and outfit, however, these four hats have changed my opinion on hats. I was always one to shy away from hats since I was going off the assumption that my head was too big to wear them let alone look good in them. That however is wrong according to my hair stylist who told me my head is small. This new found size of my head has me googling brixton hats and fiddler caps and baseball caps alike. I’m hooked. I narrowed it down to four I regularly loose around the house, chide Reid for stealing and will likely be seen on my head on the gram 🙂 Happy Friday!

1. BASEBALL HAT I like the classic Yankees!

2. RED CAP this one is the most flattering and versatile, I can’t stop wearing it

3. BERET Get one in every color! Also in pink

4. TRUCKER HAT This is the cherry on top of a cool casual look

Who said you can’t wear pink and red? I guess you could say I’m gearing up for Valentine’s Day just around the corner. Consider this a heads up for what is yet to come. Order yours before everyone else?

I’m loving these cropped polka dot pants with a casual graphic tee, blush heels, pink faux fur jacket and my go-to red cap. The graphic tee doesn’t take the outfit too seriously and the polka dots add just enough whimsey. What are you wearing for Valentine’s Day? We don’t have special Valentine’s Day traditions per say, but I am planning on making these cookies with my girls and eating with this cute pink dinnerware I just ordered. I’m not a huge baker but my kids always love when do, so I try! Any excuse to wear pink or polka dots and drink tea and cookies together right?

Sunday’s are always a mad dash to get to church by 9am, but it also happens to be one of my favorite days. Hubby usually makes pancakes or puffed pancakes, we bond over meals together, something mid week is lacking, and go to church, usually out for lunch than hang at home or take a nap. The house is usually exceptionally messy and we have popcorn for dinner, but that’s okay one day a week right? I linked our outfits below and bonus, my jeans are on sale!

What the kids wore

A couple times a year, Shopbop has an awesome sale, from jeans to tops to shoes! See below some of my picks!

Ways I Stay Motivated:

Workout with your kids. This is a double win, they get worn out and you burn calories. Need I say more?

Have a workout buddy. Meet your friend at the gym, hold each other accountable and share your goals.

Bring out an old pair of jeans or pants you’d love to wear that don’t fit, etc. and hang it somewhere visable to remind yourself of your goal. I did this after my last birth. I really wanted to burn off the last of the baby weight and a pair of white pants were my motivation!

Buy some new gear. Sometimes you need new shoes, a better fitting jogging bra and leggings. Nordstrom has experts who can fit you since after you have a baby or various times in your life you can be different sizes!

The pro’s know, the best workout starts with the best threads. At least I’m convinced that’s how I get out of bed to workout knowing I have an outfit I love to wear. These pieces can go from the gym to grocery store to school pickup. I got so many compliments on my (sucks everything in) leggings and lace back top. After all, My piano teacher always said, to begin is to be half done.

My Friday Picks

I don’t know about you, but this week flew! It was chillier than normal and I made soup and we are still wondering what day it is after Christmas. Can you relate? I made the kids do homework over break, but I’m redeeming myself as “Fun mom” by taking them to the park every day. Hello new found workout! When I’m not in leggings and running shoes literally chasing my kids, I’m in cozy knits and flattering jeans. Pretty simple. I also found some sales worth checking out below if you’re headed out of town and in need a couple new pieces. Also, don’t forget to peep at my shop page I update daily and you can always shop my instagram here.

Happy Friday!

Want to make a super simple change to your diet without changing your lifestyle and still benefitting? Drink lemon water. I usually drink a whole lemon every morning (first thing in the morning). Thankfully we have a lemon tree in the back and front of our house, so I usually ask the kids to go pick me some! While you can dilute with water, I personally like the taste so I don’t dilute. I think of it as a natural energy boost before I hit the ground running.

The benefits of lemon water

Boosts the immune system

Contains vitamin C and potassium (more than apples and grapes!)

Taking it first thing in the morning allows you to absorb your vitamins

Relieves indegestion

Great weight loss booster (the Polyphenals in lemons may aid in reducing appetite)

The antioxidents in lemon water decreases wrinkles (HALLELUJAH)

2017 was one of growth and change and blessings! I am overwhelmed and grateful my blog took out family to many places this year from Vail to Four Seasons Westlake, to Carlsbad and Legoland to Miami and Mexico. I got to work with some awesome brands and learned a lot. I’m sharing 5 things I’ve learned in 2017 below:

5 Things I learned in 2017

Be Honest

It’s ok to face your weaknesses – facing them is the first step to change.

Worry is Futile

Find people to help you who have a different skill set than you

Be kind, always!!

What have you learned? I’d love to know!

Don’t forget to shop the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale – it ends tomorrow – my blush heels I always wear are on sale and this top I have in white and bought my mom in black. Sizes are limited.
