If there’s one thing I’ve learned from NYFW this week, it’s that prints, billowing sleeves, and neck ties are going nowhere. Invest in a dress now with either the above, play with neutral or oxblood accessories. Add a trench for when the temperature dips and revel in the compliments. This is our last day in NYC, can’t wait to show you more from my week. Happy Monday!

coloring2-2Few things in the fashion world excite me more than denim and trench coats. Here’s one of my favorite layer combinations: stripe turtleneck, trench, and denim cutoffs, minus the chunky knit of course. I will save the latter for my next trip to New York. Until then, I’m stocking up on striped turtlenecks for LA’s chill winter, which is mostly dry heat and overwhelming sun. I’m certainly not complaining. Happy Fashion Week guys! Stay tuned for a wrap up next week.

Tank, flares and a hat are having a moment: 70’s inspired and still appropriate for that Indian Summer. I can’t wait to share more of my week here in New York for Fashion Week. Lots of meetings and shows. Let’s just hope the rain holds off. Meanwhile, shop the look below:

If I could give you any advice on how to dress in the most efficient way possible (i.e. the 5 min approach), I’d say dress like you pack. In other words, focus on basics, not outfits. And to expand on that idea, focus on one piece that inspires you. For me, it’s this bell sleeve blouse beautifully balanced with a bold suede skirt.

Coming from Chicago, I’ve always loved a versatile suede jacket and this one is no exception. I love it paired with a lace romper and pumps. (These flats from Nordstrom also work if you can’t walk in heels all day). Thankfully, if in between sizes, Nordstrom’s customer service is unparalleled, and returns are swift and easy. I just wish Southern California gave me more reasons to wear all my favorite jackets.

Off to pizza to celebrate the hubs before we leave for New York. But first, below are 5 patchwork faves from around the web. If patchwork booties aren’t reason enough to give this trend a whirl, the fact that it only requires minimal styling with a denim shirt or white tee should do the trick. Or in this case, I paired it with a dress vest. Violà, weekend ready!

I just found the sweetest bow dress under $80. I paired it with an edgy leather jacket and buckle pumps. I plan to wear this ensemble to celebrate the hubs birthday this weekend, which will involve lots of dark chocolate desserts, Chinese food and homemade cards from the kids. All of his favorite things. Oh, and me in the bow dress, of course.  Get the look from NORDSTROM who always pulls off awesome customer service while featuring one-of-a-kind finds – like this dress under $100. I also included other dresses from Nordstrom I like below.

There’s nothing like double flare for a dramatic entrance into the weekend. Don’t forget the hat (for bad hair days) and just the right sized weekender. All that’s missing is an Airbnb in San Fran and a trench coat if it rains. The countdown has begun.

If you know me well, I’m not huge into overalls, but I made an exception for these flared, über flattering version I paired with an off-the-shoulder top, clogs and a small tassel bag. What do you think? A 70’s upgrade to a classic farmer’s bibs. I guess you could say I’m converted.

You can’t beat the movement. I like to pair it simply – with classic jeans and chelsea boots. Don’t overthink it. Although I’m the queen of overthinking, I digress.
