red sweater: ruffle skirt  only $35! black hat :: black boots similar see more here

H&M is killing the sweater game, and if you’re not convinced, just peak at their new arrivals are you’re sure to fill your cart with goodies. As I write, I have 6 items in my cart, ha!  The hardest decision may be what color to get – I mean I almost ordered 3 red sweaters in as different knit, crazy! However you cannot ignore the fun price point – mostly under $25 and a couple mohair or cashmere under $100. That’s good because my kids Christmas lists have about three Lego sets each – that’s 12 Lego sets total, so I’m good with $20 sweaters and splurging on the boots. How about you?

Happy Humpday!

Fall shoes don’t have to break the bank. That’s why I rounded up some of my favorites mostly under $200. Fall is a great time to transition to layers, knits and cozy cardigans but also must have boots, booties and knee high boots that will still leave you room for gifts for your mom for Christmas and beyond. Which are your favorites?

How to Get Your Family to Drink More Water

We’re a fairly healthy family – both my husband and I prioritize exercise, eating well, and spending enough time outside, and it’s something we constantly try to instill in our little ones. I think it’s incredibly important to teach children the value of a healthy body and mind, so we do our best to set that example.

One healthy habit we’re always trying to improve though? Water consumption.

Especially lately as I’ve been reading endless articles with enough water being the answer to so many ailments and issues. Not only is it helpful for digestion and overall body function, but it helps with energy, skin, mood, pretty much everything. It’s simply hard to feel great when you’re dehydrated.

To get us and the kids on a 8-glass-a-day habit (or bottles in our case), we bought the entire family their own water bottles. This is not only eco-friendly (no more plastic bottles throughout the day), but it makes it kinda fun. We all try to drink a bottle before school, and then I’m working on getting the kids in a habit of filling up during the day. We drink another when they get home from school and so on.

The kids like having their own special water bottle, and making it a game of sorts has gotten them to drink more. I personally try to drink a huge glass or one bottle right when I get out of bed in the morning. It’s helpful to wake the metabolism up and get things moving.

To avoid accidents with the kids at night, we usually cut off the water bottle game by about 6 p.m.

Since focusing more on drinking enough water, I’ve honestly felt a difference already. Especially in my skin and energy levels. The kids are feeling good, too. And such an easy change, right?

Are you a good water drinker? What about your kids? How do you make sure you’re drinking enough?

When I think about what I’m most comfortable in, denim, a graphic tee, booties, and a cool jacket is always a go-to combo. It’s easy yet fashionable, which is how I like to think of my style. Part mom, part fashion girl.

As fall rolls around, I live in that combination. I’m very excited for all things velvet this season, and as blazers are more popular than ever, I’ve had fun mixing different versions into my outfits. When I first saw this chartreuse velvet jacket, I fell in love, even though the color might seem hard to style. I’ve personally always been attracted to unique statement pieces, and a color like this fits the bill. Paired down with ripped denim and a neutral graphic t-shirt, and the outfit instantly becomes California cool – a vibe I’m always into.

And because I can’t get enough of red at the moment, I mixed in two splashes to make the look feel even more like me. Fashion is supposed to be fun, and I’m all about an unexpected combination – whether colors, prints, whatever. My black booties didn’t do enough to compliment this jacket, but the red ones made the entire outfit feel more edgy and cool. A very effortless “I just threw this on but it works” kind of look, right?

I’ve already talked about adding pops of red into your wardrobe, but don’t be afraid to mix it with other hard-to-wear pieces. And do me a favor and see how red looks instead of reaching for neutral accessories on autopilot. Sometimes meshing the unexpected is the perfect combination!

I’m in the midst of putting together a fall must have collection of only a max of ten items to show you guys and a blazer is among the must haves for fall. While it’s still an 80 degree fall in SoCal, you can still dress up shorts with a blazer and chic heels. I partnered with Adriana Online on social this week, but this look was too good not to share here too.

DENIM I love a good pair of denim for fall dressed up with a tank and blazer. I tend to like both dark and light denim. See some of my picks below:

BLAZERS Nothing dresses up denim like a tailored blazer over a tank. And I’m loving them in all colors. See my picks below:

Happy Humpday! 2 days till Friday, yay! I’m super excited even though Friday will just be a normal day, I’m happy to report this week is flying! Some of you  may already know, but Shopbop usually has a great end of summer sale and it is HERE! In the past, I’ve gotten a black leather jacket, a new pair of jeans, cute booties for fall and grey OTK boots I kept eying. As a tip, it is worth it to splurge on the investment buys – items over $500 that you will wear over and again and again, making the cost per wear well worth the splurge. I can attest to this fact by the countless times I wear my Stuart Weitzman boots. If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I love them. Don’t forget, the sale goes from September 27th to the 29th. What are you stocking up on this fall?

Jeans

Shoes (from must-have flats to red boots)

Accessories (from bags to earrings)

Sweaters and Tops (essential fall layers)

P.S. As always, my shop page is open 24/7, and I’m thinking of doing a theme shop page to organize denim and tops and trends. Let me know what you think!

I love a versatile sweater like a good mocha. Here I styled it as a tunic but it can also be worn as a dress. As a note, I would size up as this runs small. If I wore this as a dress, I’d size up, to avoid it being too short. With my 5′ 9″ height, I usually have to size up. however, as a tunic, I love the cozy feel (it’s crazy soft) and extra material. This camel color also compliments scarves, a black trench and faux leather leggings underneath. Cozy is the name of the game. I’m so ready for fall and this week has felt like it believe it or not! I’m not really into pumpkin spice lattes (PSL’s), so the kids and I have been drinking more tea and adding a cardigan in the mornings and evenings. Definitely a welcome change. It’s your turn, what’s your favorite thing about fall?

One of my favorite things to do lately although it sounds strange, is be alone. I have so much noise going on around me from emails, to phone alerts, to yes, children screaming, to conference calls, etc, so a coffee break alone is sacred. While I’d like to say I’m menu planning here for the week, I’m not, lately I’ve been catching up on emails and planning some really fun content for you guys in the months to come. Meanwhile, this booties are from the Italian Giusti sisters hailing from the lovely land of Italy called AGL shoes and I’m pretty sure I will wear them dressed up or down and mainly just VERY often because I’m obsessed. Perfect boot for rips and knits. I also included below some great rag & bone jeans (the brand I’m wearing) on sale! Ok, back to my mocha.

Happy Thursday 😉

Happy Humpday! Today I’m sharing 5 Fall favorites minus the pumpkin spice latte. I’m thinking low boots, faux fur details, and classic plaid. Can’t you just hear the leaves crunching beneath your boots? I’m a fan.

Also, loving these jeans for the fit and distressed details to be worn with this sweater or this sweater. It’s good to have a pair that seems to get better with time. What is your Fall go to?

With the kids starting school, I’m in search of easy meals and even easier outfits. Enter the easy one-piece. This chambray one-piece romper is just what I was in search of paired with sleek OTK boots to kick it up a notch.  See an under $228 option here). Speaking of boots, it’s a great time to get your hands on the coveted always sold-out over-the-knee boots. I was scouring the internet last year for over the knee boots in my size 9. I’m embarrassed to say how long it took but I finally settled on these gray ones in size 9.5. As a good friend should, I’m telling you now, before the leaves change and your neighbors are wearing OTK boots holding their PSL’s (pumpkin spice lattes). Warning you’ll be seeing me style these boots many times over, which just means its a great buy. What are some of your favorite Fall buys?
