I don’t know about you but all this time at home has me a little short on inspiration. But white jeans are always a good idea, especially with summer at our doorstep, right? There is nothing like going back to the basics!

I met Sydne at an event in West Hollywood a couple years ago. I can’t even remember the one single event, but she was warm, easy to talk to and loved style! She and I quickly had a lot to talk about from her new condo renovation, to her pup, and working full time as a style blogger. One thing I love about Sydne is that she is so organized! As someone who definitely struggles in that department, it was inspiring to hear her ideas. Definitely check out her IGTV and blog! She posts weekly style videos, has a beautiful condo and came up with the brilliant idea of collaborating on a blog post about styling white jeans.

With July 4th around the corner (summer goes so fast!), we both styled one patriotic look and two looks specific to our styles.

Let’s talk skincare

Hi! During this stay at home order I’ve become a skincare junkie. I love exfoliating with a peel, dry brushing for circulation, and leaving on the elemis rose balm during an episode of the middle. It feels good taking care of myself. After all, a little at-home-spa is more than needed after a day of MOMLIFE, amiright? One thing that has really helped my skin in addition to my weekly routine is celery juice. I read that it can clear acne, but wow it actually got rid of the pimples on my nose!

Dermstore is having a huge 20% off sale, check out some of my favorites from Boscia face spray to cleansing balm.

But let’s first talk about the amazing spa in a bottle, Elemis rose cleansing balm . . .

Elemis Rose Cleansing Balm removes impurites, moisturizes and nourishes. Its a treat or SPA in a bottle. 20% off with code Summer

One thing is for sure, during this time of uncertainty, CBD has been helping me cope with stress and anxiety. I’ve been using Equilibria CBD since January and thought I needed it with 5 kids, a business etc. After this virus, I feel like I need it just as much if not more so. If you agree, read on, and if I don’t answer your question below, feel free to comment below or email me, shalice@shalicenoel.com. More information is on THIS BLOGPOST, so don’t miss it as I explain more of the science behind the CBD.

It’s a new site and I’m lost. What do you order?

I order the “Balance Box.” I get it monthly, can cancel at any time. Use code shalicenoel for 15% off!

If I take too much, will I get sleepy?

You will be matched with a dosage specialist who will help you determine what is your exact. I really enjoyed the phone call with my dosage specialist.

When did you start noticing benefits?

Right away! Some people are different so they say it can take up to 3 months to feel the full benefits. You should take it every day for optimum results.

I can’t do both, oils or gels?

Gels! They’re slow release and give me awesome sleep.

Do you take both, the drops and the gels?

Yes! I take a gel at breakfast, 1 full dropper at lunch, and 1 gel with dinner. The gels are slow release and the dropper is fast acting. You need both for great results.

What has been the biggest change since you’ve taken it?

Two things! Really good sleep and I don’t have the pit in my stomach anxiety I get occasionally.

What time do you take the gel, and how long does it last?

The soft gels absorb more slowly since they need to pass through the digestive system. But that means they also last longer in your system: between 5-12 hours.

Margarita Friday

Reid and I have been trying Margaritas! We usually have NO idea what to do when it comes to cocktails. I love an extra salty margarita on occasion and Reid likes his plain. I usually ask to lick his salt off. Through trail and error, we found a yummy recipe that works for us! Let me know, do you have a good receipe?

2 ounces of Tequila (any brand)

The juice of 4 tangerines, 2 limes, 2 lemons. Extra to line the rims of the glasses before salt.

4 fresh mint leaves

Ice

2 Tablespoons agave or honey

Kosher salt (Or chili salt) place in a plate and coat the rims.

4-6 Cucumber slices

Jalapenos (optional)

Mix and enjoy! My shop page is open 24/7, hope you have a nice time with family or a good book. We have a “social distancing” neighbor chat around the cul de sac. Its a fun way to get to know the neighbors. What are you up to?

Mother’s Day Outfit

Blouse in small // Pants (size 4) // Heels (fit TTS)

Motherhood is a constantly changing role, one that consistently brings joy and fulfillment, but also stress and worry. When I think about what I used to think of being a mom when growing up, and what I know about it now, it is almost laughable. So here is what I would say to my younger self.

8 Things I Would Tell a New Mom

1. Having a “real” job in the “real” world actually works against you when you become a mom. Because you are spoiled. Lunchbreak? No such thing. You do lunch. Paid overtime? How about no pay even during the day. Coffee breaks? You get the coffee without the break … but no time to use the bathroom so you might want to rethink that coffee. Personal space? What’s yours is also the kids, including your food, your body, your time, and anything lovely you ever bought in your house (including those silk curtains you saved up for but were subsequently peed on).

2. You have to find your Thing, that thing that recharges you and makes you keep ticking. It could be reading, taking a luxurious bath, painting, or watching Netflix. If you don’t find it and nourish it (which literally means to find the time to do it, even if it’s only 30 minutes a day), you will get lost in the Forest of Mothering. And nobody ever comes out sane from that Forest.
3. Kids are a little bit like moles. Did you know that moles manage to both find and devour their food in an average of 227 milliseconds? That’s a quarter of a second. And it only gets worse as the kids get older. So basically, if you want food, you gotta eat fast.
4. You will become one of those people who uses dry shampoo because showers are as plentiful as flowers in a desert.
5. Your fourth child has been calling you, “Ma” (like from Little House on the Prairie) for a year and not only have you just noticed, but you don’t care.
6. Messy houses just mean lived-in houses. Maybe designate a clean up day once-a-week. Or once-a-month? We can be flexible that way. Main point? Don’t stress it.
7. You are a selfish being. You are also blessed because children help you realize this in ways you wouldn’t imagine. Motherhood shows you what you’re made of while also taking and taking from you, and yet you almost feel stronger for it.
8. When you’re in the trenches of Motherhood, life is about survival, as in, “I hope I make it to tomorrow.” But it doesn’t stay there. If you manage to get beyond it, the relationships forged and the people formed are an incredible gift.

The older I get, the more I desire healthy kids who fear the Lord and love each other. Life is so short and I want to redeem the time by making sweet memories with my five.

I was telling one of my readers, its been SO hard to get blog posts out lately with a toddler, homeschooling 4 kids, and a husband at home. Our mornings start with “whats for breakfast,” than I find myself cleaning up pancake batter everywhere, feeding Levi, stepping on pancakes on the floor, asking the kids if they did their English homework, etc. Than we do math and history etc. I make lunch, we clean up, I do some work, prep dinner, clean up go for a walk, watch an episode of The Middle, clean up, wash face, and hit the sack! All that to say, its been busier than ever. While you my reader is busier than ever, stores everywhere like Nordstrom are having crazy sales.

Mother’s Day Gifts

As Mother’s Day rolls around, Reid invariably asks me what I want at some point. I usually ask for a massage or homemade cards. This year I asked for some jewelry like the kind my mother used to wear, lots of pearls in the form of elegant rings and earrings. LAGOS Jewelry has been a favorite for a while now, for both their quality and assortment of jewelry. I don’t like bulky jewelry or lots of hearts, so when I saw these dainty, detailed, and studded pieces, I fell in love. I don’t know what I love more, the rings, the bracelet, or the necklace? All of them? I hope to pass my jewelry to my daughters just like my mom passed some of hers to me. LAGOS Jewelry has that timelessness that I look for when scouting out jewelry, and I’m always thrilled when I add one of their pieces to my collection.
This Mother’s Day I’m so grateful for my Mom who put up with my teenage attitude and awkward stages, and continues to be selfless in serving her kids and grandkids. Isn’t motherhood the most beautiful adventure? I think it is. And the weird thing is, I really will miss these days of floors cluttered with annoying blocks or hundreds of frozen peas, constant bickering but also constant hugs and kisses. Happy almost Mother’s Day to the moms, the grandmothers, and those who wish to be mothers. We appreciate you!

Thank you LAGOS for sponsoring this post. All opinions my own.

Confession: my jeans are tight. I’ve been living in joggers and pj’s till 12 noon. Or later. However, I have started, by day 25 of quarantine, to get dressed, make my bed, and get some blog posts on here! I’m not a dietician, or doctor, but I have included some of my personal tips for avoiding gaining weight during this time at home.

DRINK LOTS OF H20

We need to train ourselves to drink water. We go through our days drinking coffee, smoothies, more coffee, and then we wonder why we have an afternoon headache. We are dehydrated! Here’s a tip: Drink 3 glasses of water before 12 noon. This helps a lot. You should drink a total of 8 glasses a day, and if that feels like too much, lemon water helps. Also, when I get a hankering for a peanut butter cup (more on this later) I make a (calorie-free) lemonade.

Calorie Free Lemonade

8 oz filtered water

1 lemon, squeezed

1 full dropper of stevia

5 cubes of ice

Mix all ingredients and enjoy!

Add Fab4 smoothie to your breakfast routine

I feel more fueled and focused when I have my Fab4 smoothie, originally published HERE.

#FAB4Smoothie: Protein (20g minimum) + Fiber (10g minimum) + 1 Tbsp. Fat + Handful Greens + 1/4 Cup Fruit + Superfoods + Liquid

2 scoops Vital Proteins collagen powder // 1 TB almond butter// 1 frozen banana // 1 cup frozen pineapple // 2 cups frozen organic spinach // 1 TB chia seeds // unsweetened almond milk // 2 meyer lemons (add at the end) //

Directions: blend till smooth in a vitamix or blender. I add the lemons at the end and drink immediately.

I explain more in this post about how I am changing the way our family eats.

Add a pilates ring to your routine

I place it in between my thighs while I sit for a thigh workout. Try doing it 100x!

Drink ACV

Add 2 tablespoons to water and ice and drink before a meal. Reid and I have one after dinner. Whenever it makes sense, just add this to your regimen.

As always, my shop page is open 24/7, ask any questions and let me know how you are staying fit and healthy during these times. What are your plans this weekend? Reid and I will take the kids to our friends’ pool to swim. Don’t worry, we will still be practicing social distancing. And thanks to the high temps, we will try our hand at margaritas! Will let you know how they go!

I’m nuts about Elemis cleansing balm and I think you may already know this. I stepped it up with the rose cleansing balm recently, and in love with the essential oils in it, the smell of rose oil and overall effects. I mean, it melts off your makeup!! Crazy.
