I turn 40 and I still can’t believe it! There’s a lot of trial and error that Reid and I have been though. I rounded up some things I’ve learned over the years.

Don’t take things too personally

Use face tape (shalice25 for 25% off at checkout!)

Do the research

Be kind

Work hard

Your husband is your partner in life. Picture both of you in a potato sack, trying to win a potato sack race. You gotta work together.

Take care of yourself: drink daily, eat well, sleep enough

Don’t confuse care with control.

You don’t owe anyone anything.

Serve God first.

Don’t people please, it isn’t genuine.

Wear arch support shoes daily. (these use code shalice10 and these for home are faves)

Listen to life giving words and give life giving words. It’s healthy.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Take one day at a time.

Have a lovely weekend!

xx

How to hang mini wreaths

by Shalice Noel

Mini wreaths from Trader Joes Similar here and here // Commando hooks // Gas lanterns // Cardigan in small // Modal Tee (in XS) // Joggers //

I like to keep holiday decorating cheap and simple to avoid distraction from the real meaning of Christmas. Wreaths are a great way to add Christmas character to your home but can be expensive. I chose these small scale candle wreaths from Trader Joes and they fit perfectly on our french doors. The wreaths were $9.99 and were able to buy one for each door for a great balance to our front porch. We used 3M command hooks to stick to the door. The wreaths don’t weigh much, so any size hooks should do. The hooks hold up to 3 pounds. I want to avoid permanently damaging our wood doors, so the hooks are a great find. Some people have complained the hooks don’t stick in humid climates, but so far so good for us in Florida.

I also plan to place dwarf evergreen trees in our planters and add some exterior string lights. The front porch decorating budget was $100. See what you can come up with this season and show me!

What did you end up getting?

I love surprising people.  This may shock you, given my profession.  I rarely check my luggage when traveling!  The reasons why are obvious.  You save money.  You save time.  You save anxiety.  Here are some tips to travel lite for your next trip.

Rolling luggage is great, but duffle bags are much more chic.  I flew to Punta Cana, DR with this one.  I also find I can pack more into a duffle.  When packing, strategize outfits that are versatile and light.  Think silks, nylons and cottons.  Minimize your denim to one pair of your favorite jeans and switch outfit looks with various tops.  The planes and airports are freezing, so I wear my heaviest pieces en-route.  Heavy sweatshirts, long cardigan sweaters or both layered are favorite plane ride pieces.  My Shalice Noel Bleeker Street Poncho is also a great piece for the airport chill.

I carry a large purse for my personal item and a smaller shoulder bag that keeps my travel documents, wallet and essential self-care items secured.  I also fit some overflow pieces into my larger purse, like pajamas, cozy socks, and swim suit.  When I board the plane, I fit the small shoulder bag into my larger purse and the crew is happy.

Traveling comes with enough anxiety.  Knowing my luggage is with me while traveling saves me a lot of stress and I love a good challenge.  Let me know your packing tips and check out these favorite travel pieces below.

Happy travels!

Things I packed:

duffle bag

Large purse – Chanel cocoon and the MZ Wallace is a very similar affordable version

Small purse – leatherology meadow satchel I love to add my Fendi strap

Sweater tank

Cardigan sweater

Varley sweatshirt

Sam & Libby Boot // Faux leather leggings // Jacket in small // Tee similar // Bag

Spent the day walking around Alys Beach taking note of all the beautiful gas lanterns and Christmas decor! I love this time of year. It is COLD out, so I added this black shearling jacket in size small to stay toasty on our walk to get coffee.

I added this $38 quilted travel bag that wipes clean and $30 boots that look way more expensive. Which is your favorite?

Holiday dress idea

by Shalice Noel

dress in size small (fit is tts) // bag // sandals //

Love this moroccan blue with gold dress for holiday events. I wore it when we were in Watercolor, FL, and it was so flowy and flattering. Are you invited to a holiday event? This one is perfect. Add a belt, or use the ribbon belt.

Happy November!

Reid and I just returned from Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic.  This was our first trip to the Caribbean and here are some tips we’ve picked up along the way. Have you been? Comment with your favorite tips.

  1. Fill out the E-ticket before you leave for the airport to save time.  https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/
  2. Many flights required an overnight layover so watch out when booking.  You may want to book a room to get a good night rest either at the airport hotel or one close by.
  3. Make sure you have pre-planned your shuttle to the resort.  Many people bombard you with ride offers when exiting the airport.  https://www.otiumtour.com/en/transfers/punta-cana
  4. It took us a couple days to learn this about DR coffee.  Their coffee is much sweeter than we are used to.  If you want a latte, request an espresso with steamed milk on the side.  Then mix the two together yourself.
  5. Find a gym! Resorts usually have beautiful gyms to get that sweat on and feel your best.
  1. Gucci
  2. Hat
  3. Wrap
  4. Silk set ($30)
  5. Cuff
  6. Fendi strap
  7. Ghurka tote
  8. Varley socks
  9. Averie sleep set (on sale)
  10. U Beauty moisturizer
  11. G G slides
