As we all know, velvet is as hot as Malibu in October. HOT. While we love it because it plays with the light, we wear it because it feels like the coziest throw pillow. No joke. No wonder we’re all going gaga for velvet. Well, I am no exception. Here, I styled it with leather coated jeans, and midi brown boots. At a cool $148, its a great buy. I’ve already worn it three times in two days. How’s that for cost per wear?

I’m working with Nordstrom showing my favorite date night look. I found this under $200, ombré metallic dress from Topshop at Nordstrom. I happened to be wearing this dress when my hubby and I left the restaurant and were walking around downtown Pasadena. It was funny when 5 random people stopped me on the street to tell me how much they loved this dress and where’s it from. It’s funny, the pieces I’m usually on the fence on, usually end up being my favorite pieces! It’s no joke, Nordstrom always delivers with awesome date night dress options but great customer service. As for styling advice, do size up on the dress and add this moto jacket when the temps dip.

My baby has been requesting sword fights and refusing kisses. Yup, he’s joined the ranks of all the three-nagers. Cue the tears. However, I’m still loving this short time I have with him at home. His questions, his voice and occasional naps while laying on me. The latter I won’t lie is uncomfortable, but its precious. Since I work from home, I love switching it up with flowey pants – a nice change from the faux leather skinnies. And did I mention comfy? Now, off to lots of meetings. Happy Friday Eve!

I’m working with Ann Taylor sharing two favorite looks. Sometimes I really love my job. And going to a fun store to find pieces to style is seriously fun. The other day I got to spend my afternoon at Pasadena’s Ann Taylor choosing pieces with the very lovely Sales Associate, Mariana. There was so much to choose from! From ruffly blouses and well-fitting faux leather leggings (yes! faux leather at Ann Taylor!) to plush coats with a tailored style, I had no trouble finding my eight pieces. Ultimately, it was the latter that sealed the deal. I mean, everybody knows I’m a sucker for faux leather. Don’t get me wrong, some of my favorite outfits are centered around a black moto jacket. However, I’m ready to ditch it for a hot minute while I try the tan version. I’m obsessed with camel, tan taupe, dirt brown, or however you like to call it. It goes with my ever-growing black-out wardrobe and looks great layered. Brown on brown, or dark brown on light brown, anyone? On this occasion, it was our day date; admittedly a rare occasion with work demands, late nights and let’s admit it, we’re just plain tired. So, we left the house for a date at Urth Caffé which included lots of coffee, boba, funky salads and some antique furniture exploring. Fun right? So, in between giving myself a break from the boyfriend cardi’s, and chunky knit sweaters, I’ll be wearing this tan version on repeat. ps. I just bought this cami to go underneath. Cheers to day dates, chillier days and lots of layers. Happy Fall!

A Day at Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic with Sole Society

After a relaxing morning at the photogenic Santa Monica based Palihouse Hotel, I, and fellow LA bloggers, were whisked off to hair and make-up. Shortly after, we arrived at the beautiful Rosé garden and were given two glasses and a whole bottle of Veuve Cliquot bubbly champagne. No complaints there. I loved exploring the various pop-ups, gorgeous floral walls and exciting polo match. A first for me! There was seriously a photo-op at every turn and the floral was stunning! Can you say chic? Thankfully, I was wearing the comfiest Sole Society heels so I could enjoy every moment. I can’t wait for next year!

One of the many reasons I was so excited about leaving the Midwest was a warm October. I mean, Elsa and Anna can actually walk down the street without a full parka and knit hat? Mind-blowing. So to celebrate this inaugural year of Costumes without Coats, the girls and I decided on Batman’s right hand girl: Cat Woman. We had soooo much fun getting dressed and it wasn’t long until the kids were begging to go outside to show off their costumes and demanding pictures (no, you read it right. They wanted pics!). I’ll admit, I’m the mom who is AWFUL at costumes – to the tune of using the couch blanket as a cape. Yup, mom fail. This year, I did away with my old ways. Despite ordering multiple Cat Women costumes, the totally corny headband, and the slightly loose boys’ costumes, ol’ Amazon totally pulled through for me. They, and I really do mean “I”, were a complete success. Let the 88 degree Cali October-trick-or -treating begin!

Did you know you can customize your running shoes from Nike? And is that exciting or terrifying? Well to be honest, I was terribly hesitant at first. With all the available colors and options, what if I made an ugly shoe? That’s a real fear, people! I really had to play around with a couple different styles before I settled on the NIKE ROSHE. But as you can imagine, I really got into it! A tip for those who are willing to try it–and I highly recommend trying it–do take multiple pictures of what you designed. I snapped different pictures of different colored soles and laces and then viewed inspiration in magazines and online stores. If you go with what you like and keep it simple, you’ll end up wearing them not only with your yoga pants but with your leather leggings! Practically speaking, I went with more neutral colors and stayed away from the neons. But that was my Tuesday choice. Who knows what would have happened on Wednesday? As for the two words you get to put behind the shoes, aka ‘the boss’ message, have fun! It was priceless seeing my husband’s eye-roll when he first saw my message. Who knew running shoes were so much fun?
