Suede for summer makes total sense when paired with an off the shoulder ruffle top, jeans and mules. It’s an easy going outfit that doesn’t take itself too seriously. And yes, my obsession with ruffles continues, here and here. P.S. I wouldn’t be kind if I didn’t tell you the Shopbop sale starts today! Spend under $500 and save 20%, spend over $500 and save 25% with code EVENT17. Check out my top picks below. Currently I have these jeans, this tank, and this dress in my cart. Easter dress under $100 :: suede trench similar :: blush heels :: necklace :: lips :: sunnies :: foundation ::

Easter is Sunday, and you don’t have a lot of time to prepare, but you want something less than $100? Problem solved. Here, I wore a satin dress, suede trench and blush heels. I kept similar tones together and added a chic trench to add an overall polish. I like the idea of a dress I don’t spend a mini fortune on so I have more of a budget for shoes, a designer bag and not a mini heart attack over a coffee spill. Yes, I’m speaking from experience. I also put this outfit on my shop page, and down below. I mean, how cute is this gingham cold shoulder dress with a belt?

It’s our last week of school before spring break and what a relief. While I love bonding with B while his siblings are at school, I’m super excited to let the kids ease into the morning and not have to make that 8am drive. We’re excited to welcome my in-laws, so be prepared for lots of date-nights and going-out-for-ice-cream kinda nights.  I love how versatile this top is – great over leggings or jeans, tied or tucked, dressy or casual. See here how I styled embroidered jeans. Happy Tuesday!

I usually have 5.5. minutes to find a jacket and some shoes and jet out of the house. I usually am sporting something like this, an off the shoulder top, jacket for chilly nights and mornings and flats!

Last week, we visited the Pasadena Library and it was simply stunning. We didn’t have long to explore, but we were able to peruse the wood paneled reading rooms, awesome kid space, and old fireplaces, so much charm. I can’t wait to take Reid back there! Also, the outdoor espresso bar is a cute little destination that’s quiet and somewhat private. Definitely worth a visit. Here are 4 more places worth a visit in LA:

One of the fun things about moving from LA from Chicago is everything is new and we are always discovering something new here in LA! We like to support small businesses, so it was fun to stumble upon some unique cafés that make LA so unique. Just don’t forget to bring your laptop, a magazine and order a double espresso. A good café is worth savoring.

Here are my top 4:

Foodie Friday is back!! Like most things in life, something that started as a fun idea is now a full-blown ritual. As in, don’t even think about changing any thing up or bad things are going to happen. It’s pretty simple actually. After we drop off the kids at school, Brooks and I come back home and make smoothies. There it is. Quite honestly, I usually go through the mail and email while he begs and begs until I help him pull out all the ingredients. I literally put all the ingredients on the rug and then he sits there with the Vitamix and happily puts things in the mixer. I won’t say it’s all smooth sailing. Just today, while he was pulling out the spinach, he pulled out the glass jar of strawberry jam and it shattered. And mixers and children (well, adults too to be honest) don’t always go well together. So like I said, it’s not always smooth sailing, but it is worth it. He “cooks” his own food, and we both get yummy smoothies and fun memories.

Some of the Pros of cooking in the kitchen with your kids:

It’s fun! He’s learning and you’re both doing something fun together–it’s Quality Time!

You’re making memories

An opportunity to teach how to clean up

You get to stretch your patience muscle

Cons

Your patience muscle is getting stretched

Things will break, fall, and Legos are always involved. I don’t even know how, but it’s true

The mess (this almost deserves two bullet points, but I’ll leave it at one)

B’s Smoothie recipe

1 frozen banana

2 packets frozen acai bowl mix (we get ours from Costco)

1/2 cup – 3/4 cup  almond milk

1 T chia seeds

1 handful of kale

Blend in the Vitamix and enjoy chilled!

One thing I love about Nordstrom is their awesome selection, customer service and brands! I have SO many brands at my fingertips (mostly at 1am) on Nordstrom.com, from investment pieces to essential tee’s and affordable bandana’s. All of which I plan on stocking up on the latter for our road trip this summer. More on that later. Meanwhile, these white pants are completely on trend and very versatile. I’m loving everything laced-up from sweaters to high waist pants. See more of my picks below. Here, I styled them with stripes and totally different sunnies, making lace up pants the ultimate wardrobe staple. How do you wear yours?

Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post, all opinions my own.

Gingham is not just for picnics. It’s a fun-loving easy-to style print that I love with jeans, white pants or skirts. For example, I’ve had this beautiful gingham wrap dress in my closet forever  but it was too short on me, but then in dawned on me, I could pair a fluted navy skirt underneath. Midnight styling sessions while the kids sleep really is paying off. However, the 7am alarm clock is a rude awakening. Thankfully, my in-laws arrive next week. Think lots of new fresh content and date nights. Can you tell I’m excited? See here and here how I styled gingham and shop my top 6 picks below.

You probably already know, I collect denim. I’m pretty picky about the wash and fit, but I found a couple faves, some of which are under $100! Don’t forget to size up since they arrive pretty stiff. I’m definitely bringing a couple pairs to Mexico with Reid and I, as I love how they look with ruffles and going out tops. A good pair of jeans is like a good friend, bring them everywhere, and treat them well. See more denim faves I update daily on my shop page.
