This weekend we are off to Santa Monica, and if the kids have anything to do with it, we will stop by the beach. I’m keeping it simple with a cotton dress, sneakers (or cute sandals in blush velvet) and my trusty hat. I’ love that this dress is under $50 so the inevitable spills don’t stress me out. Back to breakfast with my crew, shop more dress finds below. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

We’ve been venturing out to more neighborhoods like Silverlake and loving the vibe. Laid back, artsy, and great coffee shops. And did I mention cool vintage cars? I’m a fan. It’s starting to feel like summer so what’s easier than a summer dress? I love that its only one piece and all you need is shoes to complete the outfit. Love this red handkerchief style dress that is also under $100! Shop more under $100 selections from Nordstrom below. Happy Friday!

At Home Spa

by Shalice Noel

The Beauty Edit

I don’t usually have a lot of time to schedule spa appointments, so at home spa is much more attainable these days. I’m loving treatments I can do while simply sitting in my bed at night. I’ve been using illuminage for hair removal, Tula for nighttime lotion (I like that its fragrance-free and super moisturizing) and Nuface for facial toning. Have you tried any of these? I recently spent the day with Locale Magazine sharing some of my favorite Manhattan Beach places to stay, eat and shop! It was a fun non-stop day – think lots of outfit changes, and walking from shop to cafe. Thankfully, everything is so close and so quaint! I just love MB, friendly people, great shops and did I mention awesome views? Go get yourself a copy of the new issue – out now! Or see it digitally HERE.

Everyone wants beautiful bouncy and healthy hair but not everyone is sure how to achieve it. My hair often suffers from dryness, overheating with hair straighteners and lots of hair products, especially from events and photo shoots. So, in between washes, I substitute apple cider vinegar or ACV instead of shampoo.  The beauty and simplicity of ACV naturally cleanses the scalp without stripping the hair of necessary oils. My hair after washing with ACV not only maintains fresh hair color in between salon visits, but I also noticed it became softer and shinier.  So, how does it work you ask? It’s simple, alternate shampoo days for ACV hair rinse and follow with conditioner. I love how bouncy my hair feels afterwards and totally recommend it!  Styling tip: for my hair, using ACV once a month was fine, but using it every day did not achieve the results I wanted, and after washing with ACV, add Argan Oil therapy to protect from UV color fade as well as protect from heat styling without weighing it down. Brilliant. I love using natural ingredients for my hair.

Motherhood for me is a series of mistakes and triumphs, lessons and growth. All the while giving myself and my kids grace! It is indeed the steepest learning curve and the greatest blessing. For example, it may sound silly, but there was a time I was upset I couldn’t attend golden hour photo shoots, the timing didn’t work with my kids or their schedules (hello witching hours!) However, I was able to step back, accept my responsibilities at home only to realize THESE are the golden hours!! Being present with my family, and loving the gifts my Heavenly Father gave me provided the greatest contentment.

One of my favorite quotes:

“Blessings, like children, are not ethereal and weightless. Sometimes they feel like they come at you like a Kansas hail storm – they might leave a welt! But if you accept your lot, and rejoice in your toil, God will give you the kind of overwhelming joy that cannot remember the details. Motherhood is hard work. It is repetitive and often times menial. Accept it. Rejoice in it. This is your toil. Right here.  Those are their faces. Enjoy them. The days of your life are supposed to be full of things like this. But joy is not giddy. It is not an emotional rush — it is what happens when you accept your lot and rejoice in your toil. So rejoice in your children. Look them in the eyes and give thanks. You will not even remember the work of all this planting when the harvest of joy overwhelms you.”

6 Summer Dresses

It’s been hard getting back into the saddle of my week since getting back from Chicago, school variety shows, homework and everything in between is taking up my time. One of my favorite style savers lately is a silky trench! I’m obsessed. It works out great with the chilly weather we’ve been having. Happy cloudy Wednesday from SoCal! I also talk about trenches in the Mother’s Day guide if you missed it.

xx
