I started out blogging thrifting in Chicago. You would be amazed at what I would find: designer duds and quality basics. It also afforded me the freedom to go bold with my style. For example, I usually would find a $5 tee and $9 crazy stripe pants, so no sweat to the wallet. And if I didn’t end up liking it, I would just donate it back or sell it on my instagram shop @herchicboutique. It was a fun and mildly therapeutic habit. And habit it became. I would get a sitter so I could go down there and thrift. On the days I didn’t have a sitter, I would bring all four kids, two holding the cart (if they were being good) and two inside the cart. I would always bring tons of crackers and cringe at how many we left in our path. Hilarious. But I always found some treasures from Smythe blazers to James Pearse tees to Frame denim just to name a few, all of which I would boast to Reid when he got home. As a stylist, I was in heaven, the suspense of not knowing what I would find was addictive. Fast forward almost 4 years, and I love blogging, and I’m grateful to have brands sending clothes to me. However, occasionally I buy $39 jeans with a great hem, slash the knees and fray wherever necessary. So, that’s exactly what I did for today’s post. I love an under $50 item I don’t freak out when dirt, coffee, and the like get spilled on them. But I’m SO INCREDIBLY grateful for the people and places and faces I have had the pleasure of meeting through my blog and instagram and I will never forget that little dingy thrift shop where it all started, and the countless times my family, my uber driver, my neighbor, etc,  took pictures for me. Thank God. I would not be where I am today.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

XO

Summer is all about picnics, running to the beach on a whim and catching the sunset, just in time. So, there’s usually no time to overthink an outfit. My fun go-to is gingham, flouncy sleeves, jeans and sequin flats. I’m not sure about you, but I live in these flats as well. The best way to style wrap tops is with simple gray or white jeans, flats and a small bag.

With so many weddings and events, a girl needs dress options. I pulled some of my favorite dresses (the one I’m wearing has pockets!) that are ever-so flattering and fun for Bar Mitzvah’s, weddings, or graduations. Hey, consider it a belated birthday gift to yourself.

This Memorial Day weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. We need an extra day to prepare for our upcoming road trip to Chicago. Think lots of kids outfits in ziploc bags, trail mix, and piles everywhere. Did I mention piles? Funny enough, we ditched the to-do list and headed to Manhattan Beach and pool party with our church. It was definitely fun filled and they didn’t want it to end. Shop my Summer uniform lately, white shirts, cutoffs and a baseball cap. What’s your Summer uniform?

Sometimes all that’s missing in your summer wardrobe are some fun shorts. Enter the palm shorts I picked up last week. Flattering, on-trend fit, pockets and looks great with a classic white shirt. Any questions? Maybe you’re wondering how fast they can ship along with some much needed vitamin D to your neck of the woods. While I cannot ship the coveted sunshine, however, I can share with you that the shorts are 40% off with code SUMMER. How’s that for spicing things up?

I only like a dress if its super soft and terribly versatile. This one fits the bill and perfect for a long weekend and every longer naps. We are planning to don sweaters and lug blankets to Newport Beach for a family picnic. Hello 60 degrees! If you’re wondering, yes, I wore this dress with Birkenstocks. See more under $100 dresses here and here. What are your plans?

I am so excited to be asked to partner with Ann Taylor again here on the blog. I was asked to choose 8 pieces and had SO much fun picking palm prints, cute ruffle tops, linen shorts and honestly, I found more than 8 pieces. As many of you know, I do not go to an office, but I’m asked often if I could style some ways to wear elevated office appropriate looks for my readers. Viola! An easy creme off the shoulder top with palm pants and white heels. You could also add a blazer to make this look more formal. The team at Ann Taylor always seem to knock prints out of the park from florals to palm prints. I’m always drawn to their pencil skirts, belted shorts and fun pants. I cannot wait to wear these for date night to boba tea, Republiqué, or a patio lunch with friends. Where would you wear your palm pants? Comment below.

Bonus: This look is 40% off now with code: SUMMER (making this top around $24!)

Warning, even as you may glance innocently at the Net-A-Porter Sale, there is highly possible you will not have an empty cart. Case in point, just as I was making my selects on the sale pages, I couldn’t help but entertain the Roland Mouret white pants, the denim cutoffs, and those satin black pants, swoon! Which is your favorite? Comment below!

When you are asked to host an event in Chicago with Tiffany & Co. and Coveteur, you do not hesitate. Plus it gave me an excuse to catch up on all the Lou Malnati’s pizza, my best friend, my family, etc, etc. I brought my four year-old who spent most of my 5 days in Chicago catching up with cousins over Lego’s and my sister’s yummy cooking. While he was catching up with family, I was able to connect with Chicago blogger friends I have missed since moving to LA. Tiffany gave me a great excuse to go back home, host an event on a rooftop, talk with guests from all over the country, enjoy eats and sips and try on the new Tiffany Hardware collection. SWOON. It is so lovely and edgy – the pieces all went with what I was wearing, my favorite being the rings. I was so thankful for the friends and family who came out to support me and the collection. If you were there and reading this, THANK YOU! It brought a smile to my face to meet people who said they follow me and came out to see the collection. All in all a lovely stay and I’ll have to admit, I’m missing that room service.
