If you’re looking for that one-of-a-kind vintage Chanel, look no further than Rice and Beans Vintage. What I love about this Chanel backpack, besides the fact that it is Chanel and gorgeous, is that it is hand’s free. I can carry my essentials and still have hands available for my little ones who invariably come with all those spills and hugs. A great thing to keep in mind about feature pieces …  always pair your feature piece–for me it’s my jacket with all its intricate lace–with a subdued color like black so as to keep it chic and not too loud. For instance, if this jacket was white, I would wear white jeans. It’s all about balance. And in order to let the jacket and Chanel shine, I chose my go-to nude sandals because that’s all I really needed for date night. Well, maybe a margarita or two but I wouldn’t limit that to just date night. Follow Rice and Beans Vintage on Instagram to see vintage Chanel as it arrives!

Originally started by rockstar mom, Sarah Korsiak Cellier, of Rice and Beans Vintage, who sought out to bring vintage Chanel to the masses, and masses she did. She personally oversees each bag’s fabric, quality, authenticity, cut and detail. All I needed to hear was the three words: vintage, red, Chanel, and I was all in. A no brainer right? She also takes personal requests. Hmm, I wonder if I could request a mini red vintage Chanel for my 5-year old. Of course, she’d only be allowed to look at it. See more of her collection here.

On fun date nights when hubs makes reservations for dinner, we almost always end it with coffee ice cream. Well, it’s a goal at least. We like Jeni’s in Los Feliz. But c’mon, who doesn’t? I like it when he makes our plans, leaving me with one less thing to manage so that I end up enjoying it much more. And speaking of one less thing, I tend to gravitate towards jumpsuits since it’s one piece ladies, not 2-5 with layers. One and done. What are your datenight rituals?

5 favorite jumpsuits

1. DVF just so classic

2. SOLACE LONDON elegance personified

3. STOREE under $50

4. MADEWELL stripes and bows never looked so good (pair with a structured blazer)

5. MARA HOFFMAN OTS and so flattering

How is your weekend? We had a last minute date Friday night and it was d-i-v-i-n-e. Date night is often running errands for us so I almost always wear jeans with the exception of some dresses I’ve shown here before. This top immediately caught my eye because of the ruffles and one shoulder design. I paired it with color block heels you have seen before on my instagram because they are so versatile. Stay tuned, as we’re headed somewhere fun tomorrow!

Have a lovely rest of the weekend!

I’m all about white after labor day – and especially if it includes ruffles and a tie. Dress it up or down with a distressed jean or leather jacket. It’s all about options. Even though we have the beach with friends and a pool party planned for the weekend, I plan to wear this for a short date night. And did I mention, it’s on sale for $160? Run, don’t walk.

You can’t beat the movement. I like to pair it simply – with classic jeans and chelsea boots. Don’t overthink it. Although I’m the queen of overthinking, I digress. If you like fall as much as I do, do yourself a favor, buy ahead, and marvel at the styling options. The cherry on top, is that it is just $25. Just stay away from your toddler’s cute lil sticky hands.

We arrived at the ACE Hotel Palm Springs!

As some of you may recall, my birthday getaway last month landed me in Palm Springs, CA. So, what’s better than escaping Chicago winter for desert heat and Palm trees? Not to mention wearing Piperlime’s resort wear while I was there. It was an awesome project with amazing pieces to style and only possible thanks to my parents watching our kids. Bless them! We quickly acclimated ourselves to our new surroundings with the amazing on site spa, and Kings Highway biscuits and gravy. Oh my southern comfort. It also didn’t take long to discover this maxi dress felt amazing on, flowy, declaring vacation. Mojitos by the pool, anyone? If were talking essentials, were talking white shirts. I concur with Carolina Herrera who once said, “trends may come and go, but nothing will ever beat a white shirt.” After all, it goes with everything making it a packing no brainer. Don’t leave it at home. Likewise, these Levi’s cutoffs have just enough distressing and just the right length that won’t leave you looking like a spring breaker.  Since I need as much help in the packing department as possible, I’m loving how Piperlime lays out your resort essentials so you can spend more time ordering off the spa menu. Now, if I could only figure out how to get back to those Palm trees and biscuits and gravy.

Thank you Piperlime for sponsoring this post! All writing, styling and thoughts are my own.

We needed a getaway in a big way, so the hubs came through in a big way for my birthday. Our list of vacation must haves included no snow, no agenda and definitely no guided tour. I was clearly in the market for a laid back let’s stare at Palm trees kind of vacation. What better place than Palm Springs?  It helped staying HERE: the laid back chill down heat up yes there’s a DJ at the pool cool. I recommend it. Besides a short bike ride and even shorter hike, we did little. I guess that’s exactly what a couple with a large family does. We didn’t have to cut chicken nuggets into miniscule pieces or draw straws for whose turn it was to clean up the spilt milk. A plus. Not to mention quiet conversation talking about our dreams and of course trying to answer the unavoidable question of why we live in a cold climate. Finally, we enjoyed a detour to Venice Beach on our way to the airport. While we saw enough to fill the pages of National Geographic on that strip of sand, we loved it. We ate lunch at Collage Café and the people watching was the cherry on top. Next time, we’ll venture out to Palm Desert and more beaches, and maybe even bring the fam.

Maybe.
