If you’re a mom like me with a newly minted 1 year old, putting on makeup just isn’t what it used to be. I put mascara on one-handed, curling my lashes is also done one-handed, and my new bronzer has already been dropped and cracked. Sad face.

Alas, it is just not the same as it used to be. But might I add it has never been this fun? Levi brings a whole new level of joy to the mundane. And with that includes his wonder and excitement over my makeup brushes, chewing on my Givenchy eye pencil, allowing me to brush his cheeks as he hurls in giggles and belly laughs. Definitely not boring.

Now, the super mom skills come in when baby is on the hip, and you’re actually able to apply some makeup, and not look like Count Dracula. Didn’t I say skills? All that to say, my makeup and beauty routine has been abridged over the years. These items have been favorites as of late:

Givenchy Bronzer – Love this bronzer so much because it goes on very light. I try not to have too heavy of a hand when it comes to bronzer, so if you like it to be there but not like, REALLY there, this is a great option for you. The color is also really great and would go well with a lot of different skin tones in my opinion. Pro tip: Apply on your cheekbones, forehead and jawbone for that I-just got-back-from-St-Tropez look.

Givenchy Eyeliner – Levi loves to play with this, but so does mommy! I would definitely recommend this pencil if you’re needing some precision. It would be great for someone who likes to line the waterline or rock a super sleek cat eye.

Chanel perfume – This perfume smells amazing! It is more musky than flowery, which is my ideal perfume. I’m not a fan of anything with either a vanilla scent or too much of a floral scent. Pro tip: spray some in your hair before a night out. So glam!

Have you tried any of these? I’d love to hear.

I’m all about being efficient with my morning routine—the less there is to do, the more time I can save, which is where L’Occitane’s new Shea 3-in-1 Cleansing Water comes in. It is seriously the cleansing product I’ve been missing.

I recently did away with lash extensions, so I’ve been trying to find the most gentle cleanser to take off my mascara. I’ve used various products but haven’t settled on one, yet. If I have a little more time in the morning (aka my eldest makes the pancake batter), I’ll go for a deeper cleanse and use Shea Butter Cleansing Oil, but when I’m trying to get everyone out the door, I’ll use the Shea 3-in-1 Cleansing Water. I massage it into my face with closed eyes and dry or wet hands. It becomes a little milky, then I rinse it off with water. Did I mention it smells amazing? I liken it to the combination of baby powder, Shea butter and fresh paper, all rolled into one. Hubby is a fan of the smell too, ha.

After the last rinse, I’m feeling super clean. I finish with Shea Butter Light Comforting Cream for dry to very dry skin. I’ve been told I have dry skin, so I’m definitely not skipping this step. I like that it’s not greasy and I feel fresh and ready for my day. For reference, I use Light Comforting Cream for day and Shea Butter Ultra Rich Comforting cream for evening.

Violà! I’m ready to face my day—kids, school, work, and the LA smog.

While I’m on the topic—here are my overall skincare tips:

– Always wash your face at night. Not washing your face at night can age you, clog your pores and hinder your skin’s ability from repairing itself at night. So it’s kind of IMPORTANT.

– I try and drink 8 glasses of water a day. If that seems overwhelming, try 3 glasses by 12 noon, 3 more by 3, and 2 more before/with dinner – split it up glass by glass.

– Drink fresh squeezed lemon before you eat or drink in the morning. This helps your skin (and digestion!).

– Sleep! Always get 8 hours of sleep at night. This has been extra hard for me (a night owl), but exercise with the kids is helping!

What are some of your skincare tips? PLEASE share!

Everyone has their own makeup routine, and I promise I’m not trying to mess with it. Scout’s honor. But I’m always picking up new tricks (impossible NOT to do in LA) and changing things up in the hopes of finding that Greater Beauty and thought I’d share some of them. I’m often changing up my routine as my skin changes with the seasons. I must admit, I’m no pro and am definitely still learning the best techniques from various brushes to the smoothest finish. But time, ya’ll. There is no time. So before school drop off I have roughly 5-11 minutes to get ready, so I don’t mess around. First step is concealer. I dot it around the middle of the forehead and under the eyes. I smooth it in with my blending  or foundation brush. Next, I pump one to two pumps of foundation onto my left hand, dab it with the foundation brush, and apply it in circles starting at the side jaw and working my way up. Side note, my skin is naturally oily and this foundation leaves no oily residue with its matte finish. Once the face is covered, I finish with finishing powder using the largest and softest brush. All day I get good coverage. Also, I use a make-up setting spray to hold my foundation in the hot SoCal conditions. A quick swipe of lip balm, a few strokes of mascara, and voila. The face is on. Anybody else have any no-fail secrets or techniques? Don’t hold out on us, people!

Since moving to a warmer and drier climate 3 months ago, I’ve found myself reaching for the moisturizer way more than usual. My skin was drying out, especially my face, and it wasn’t pretty. I’m short on time most days so I wasn’t interested in a lengthy process. Recently I’ve been using the AVON ANEW regimen, including products from the Vitale, Platinum and Ultimate lines, and have been pretty impressed. Slowly but surely I’ve been cleansing, moisturizing and rejuvenating my skin to a more nourished state. It also looks loads better, which is kind of the point, right? In addition to my daily skincare routine, I’m also trying to get the recommended 8 hours of beauty sleep, drinking H20, eating well, taking a multivitamin and, ahem, avoiding stress. Practically speaking, I’ve started to workout with a trainer and the hubs has been perfecting his kale green smoothie, I highly recommend his new kale, pineapple, coconut water and cayenne pepper combo. So yum. Between sweating and adding smoothies to my daily routine, I’m slowly making positive changes for my skin in 2016. And if I have a particularly hard day, which always manages to show up under my eyes, there’s always the ANEW Vitale Eye gel cream to de-puff tired eyes. After all, beyond clothing, beautiful skin is the best accessory.
