Happy Weekend! I’m loving this sweater dress – especially the shoulder button details. Style tip, this dress can also be worn off the shoulder, yay! 

  1. BELTED COAT – for its shape and color. Hello versatility!
  2. BUTTON FRONT SKIRT – love the asymmetrical design styled with booties
  3. HOUNDSTOOTH BLAZER hello fall must-have! Notice the modern piping detail for work to play chic.
  4. RUCHED SWEATER TBH this was the most interesting part of the collection. While I’m not usually a fan of baring the midriff, however, a peek of the mid section paired with chic high waisted trousers or a pencil skirt feels ever so fresh for fall.

How do I find outfits for my kids? I focus on quality fabrics, patterns and clothes they will actually wear and love. When I see them get excited about a shirt or a cool pair of shoes, that’s when I know I’ve found something they not only like, but they’ll actually wear! And yes, it’s all found at Nordstrom!

The moment my oldest saw this cape, she exclaimed, “This would be great for Lake Arrowhead!” And I agree. It’s super soft and perfect for chilly early mornings and late nights. We love it up there. Likewise, my son loves his sweatshirt and especially his new sneakers. He won’t stop wearing them! Kind of like his obsession with his soccer uniform. He wears it so much that hubby and I had to hide it! Anyone else have this happen with a kiddo?

I’m so thankful for Nordstrom curbside pick-up for days when I have to be at soccer practice, art class and tumbling class. Their customer service has won over this busy mama for over a decade. What are some of your Nordstrom faves?

What I’m Buying from Nordstrom Back to School

I’m so excited to partner with Nordstrom Back to School for kids. I’m loving all their laid-back pieces to add to my kids’ wardrobe this fall. I honestly love shopping for their autumn staples just as much as my own and Nordstrom makes it too easy.

Because we spend most weekends in the mountains, I was happy to find a lot of pieces that layer really well! Going from warmer temps in LA to the cooler mountain temps can be a little tricky so I had my oldest pick out a plaid blazer to go over her yellow dress. And yes, I let her borrow my Gucci belt bag. You can’t fault her good taste. The boys’ shoes were sporty and adorable. Now I just wish they knew how to tie their shoes, but let’s reserve that for another blog post shall we? Likewise, the girls loved their boots because they look like mom’s! I wonder how long I will get away with them saying that?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—Nordstrom is simply one of my favorites for the kids. With all these adorable back to school options, how can you not want to pick something up for your kiddos?

5 Things I’m Buying from Nordstrom this Month

Nordstrom always seems to nail it. I was looking for an oversize blazer over jeans, and distressed shorts and I found it all online at Nordstrom.com! I was so excited to share it with you. Also, if you’re on the lookout for denim shorts that are a good mom length, these are it! As for the white blazer, I got a small and it fits perfectly over the bum. So flattering. As a disclaimer, with 4 kids and a 36 week belly, I’m no stranger to stains. To be honest, I usually bring a tide stick with me. If you’re as crazy about oversize blazers as I am, this plaid one is equally stunning. Speaking of belly, try this bella band if you’re pregnant and wanting to still wear your pre-pregnancy jeans by covering this clever band over your denim zipper. Genius!

While in Lake Arrowhead last weekend, I wore this blazer over this dress and got tons of compliments. And yes, if you’re wondering, I’m wearing all the white after labor day. No rules ladies. Wear what you like, and if you want to feel EXTRA in white, use this self tanner.

And speaking of basics, Nordstrom has the best options—I’m loving these Gucci loafers, long tunic, flattering jeans, Bella band, and mom-friendly bag slash backpack. Nordstrom is always my go-to for quality basics like these, awesome customer service, and options for curbside pick-up. The latter of which I will probably use when I have a nursing baby!

How to Shop the Season’s Hottest Sale

The annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts July 12, and I wanted to give you a heads up! It’s that time of the year, I get a sitter all day, shop what I like, share it all with you. Not to mention, it’s a great time to stock up on gifts for Christmas and birthdays. This year is a little different having the Arrowhead house to furnish and having a cute baby bump! I will be sure to look for items that work both for maternity and non-maternity as well as good home finds. I’m on the search for fluffy pillows, throws and candles for house guests. The biggest holiday of the summer is upon us and I have to admit, I’m pretty excited. We just wrapped up the kitchen remodel of our A-Frame cabin on Lake Arrowhead and it’s going to be so nice to have it done and ready for my family next week. Although I’m excited about family time and the cabin, I also had to get everyone’s outfit for the 4th just right!

So like I said, we will be spending the holiday at Lake Arrowhead, which means I opted for a simple white dress for myself, a blue banana dress for my eldest, polos for my boys, and overalls for my youngest daughter. I love how Nordstrom always has an awesome online selection of girls and boys clothes. My eldest is growing like a weed, so if I’m unsure about sizing I order two sizes and easily return from home. Having a large family, Nordstrom has also provided conveniences like curbside pick up. So easy! I just parked and called the number they provided and me and the kids and I waited in the car while the store associate loaded our bags. Super convenient and just another reason to love Nordstrom right? When I’m dressing them, it’s all about simplicity when you’re planning on having a low key weekend with lots of grilling and my favorite flag cake. Have you ever made a flag cake? It’s amazing! I’ve included the recipe below.

What Father’s Day Means to Our Family + A Few Gift Ideas

How is it almost Father’s Day? I’m not sure how time is going so fast but it is. I love Father’s Day to celebrate all the hardworking dads and husbands out there. The kids usually make Reid homemade cards and we give him a couple gifts. In this case—a shirt that happens to have his initials on it and his favorite bar of dark chocolate!

I don’t know about you, but buying gifts for dads and men in general, is a challenge. For Reid, I chose a couple things I knew he needed because dads always appreciate some practicality, right? And to make things super easy for you guys, I rounded up some favorites from Nordstrom below. They always have an awesome selection. I can buy multiple sizes and colors and enjoy free at home returns (these are the best).

Gifts aside, Reid works incredibly hard for us each and every day and for that he at least deserves one day of gifts, cards and chocolate. It’s been an incredible journey watching him take on the role of “dad” and seeing him teach the kids how to swim, draw and swing a golf club. Most importantly though, he’s taught the kids to always play fair with each other and to always treat people how they’d like to be treated. Where would we be without such a wonderful man?  Happy Father’s Day, Reid, not sure what we would do without you!
