4 steps to comfy chic: Start with a SIMPLE DRESS, sport a comfy SNEAKER, add a chic BLAZER, and finish it off with a BASEBALL HAT. How easy is that? And did I mention the dress is under $30? If you’re wondering how make a simple cotton dress more sophisticated? Add a blazer. The latter immediately adds a chic factor. I’m loving a camel and navy combination, but this blazer also works with this black dress. I believe when you’re comfortable, you’re sexy. 3 Things I’ve learned as a Mom:
1. Not everything will be perfect. Plan for the worst. In which case, my mom bag is stocked with lollipops, trail mix, almonds for me and hubby and Fig bars for the kids from Costco. I’ve learned these items make anything from traffic delays to waiting at the doctor’s office, MUCH smoother.
2. Enjoy the moments. This is harder than it reads. And to do this successfully you will have to say NO to what is good for what is BEST. Lots of discernment is needed to decide. Sometimes I give up potential brand partnerships and events, to spend quality time with my kids.
3. Don’t judge. Every mom and child is at a different place – I used to look at parenting so differently as a single – now I get it and give every mom some grace. Especially during that 4 pm, grocery store line when they’re grabbing for candy and chocolate. Been there. If you’re a mom, what have you learned, please share in the comments. I’m working with Ann Taylor sharing two favorite looks. Sometimes I really love my job. And going to a fun store to find pieces to style is seriously fun. The other day I got to spend my afternoon at Pasadena’s Ann Taylor choosing pieces with the very lovely Sales Associate, Mariana. There was so much to choose from! From ruffly blouses and well-fitting faux leather leggings (yes! faux leather at Ann Taylor!) to plush coats with a tailored style, I had no trouble finding my eight pieces. Ultimately, it was the latter that sealed the deal. I mean, everybody knows I’m a sucker for faux leather. Q & A
1. How is it having a large family in Los Angeles? I think it’s important to know what places, and neighborhoods are more kid friendly etc. Read my post on 5 kid friendly LA.
2. When do you style outfits? Honestly, some of the best “editing” i.e. trying on, taking off, and more mixing, less matching happens when the house is quiet, the last child has gone to sleep! I can gather my thoughts, write copy, and return emails.
3. Tell us something we don’t know . . . Well, I have 250 pairs of shoes in my house, but can never find a pen. True Story.
4. Will we be seeing any short videos coming soon? Yes! Glad you asked, we filmed one last week coming soon! Eeek! I’m somewhat camera shy, so it was fun to crawl out of my shell. Meanwhile, just enjoy my short boomerangs on Instagram.
5. Where are you going next? I’m planning a trip to NYC, so comment with your must see, must eat, must drink, must everything.
6. Tell us about your week . . . My family has been in town which means we’re going to the beach, using 14 eggs for scrambled eggs in the morning and using lots of paper plates. No shame! And did I mention, there’s an inch of sand on my floors? It has been a treat seeing the cousins bond all over again since last seeing each other in January. If you think about it, its really just a short time together before they all part ways, some to different schools and a very wide 2200 miles away from each other. I get choked up just thinking about it. I am also needing versatility in my dressing since time is always of the essence as a busy mom.
Any Last Words? Sometimes you just need a $39 dress worn as a top, and laugh about all the scrambled eggs on the floor. Memories in the making.

I could think of worse things to do than a stroll down Melrose place, green tea matcha in hand, wearing my fave crops, and my four kiddos by my side. It was not a common Melrose Place scene but I think that’s why I liked it. There were barely any other kids in sight and the surroundings were just gorgeous. The highlight was for sure my ‘kate’ walking casually by the Equipment store and realizing a large ‘kate’ sign was in the window. This may or may not have made bigger sister mad. I’ll let you guess on that one. It afforded some pretty good conversation about how cool and special she felt, and more than a couple good snaps. I told her later it was for Kate Moss and she seemed confused. Haha. Also a highlight was little brother trying to make bunny ears with his small chubby fingers. Ahhhh
such a charmer!

All in all a very fun afternoon hanging around Melrose, Alfred’s Tea with some of LA’s best: Janna Carney, Felicia Lasala and Molly Paddon. These types of outtings are best short and sweet. And if you’re curious if we were tired afterwards, you guessed right. Most of my days do not go as planned despite my best laid plans and are far from picture perfect, i.e. some tears and my three year-old only faced the camera if you shouted “lollipop!” However all this real life is what makes life exciting. It was a wise woman who said the days are long, but the years are short. And I know I’ll miss these exhausting and full, lollipop filled, energetic days full of innocence, wonder, naughtiness and love. Just give me all the coffee. Until the next adventure . . .
