Since moving to CA, we have become avid beach goers. I mean, when in Rome, right? So after many weekends of beach-hopping, we polled the kids for the favorite beach. By this time we had visited about 6 beaches and not too surprising, Laguna Beach trumped the competition. Laguna is the most exotic of the beaches I have visited thus far, and it was easy to enjoy at Casa Laguna, where we stayed to attend the Gorjana store opening. It was a fun weekend getaway from the hustle of Los Angeles and the coffee on the veranda was a huge bonus. And the store had a photo-booth … you know, those contraptions where you put your kids in and you don’t see them for 10 hours straight? Yeah, so that was a bonus as well. After we peeled the kids away from the 52nd photo-booth picture, we hit the sack at the hotel so as to fit in a cold swim and some yummy breakfast the next morning before leaving. Thankfully, we got four sleepy heads on the long drive home and lots of memories. Can’t wait to go back!

4 Things to do in Laguna.

  1. Victoria Beach – Lots of rock but seal sighting is normal, great views and surf
  2. Casa Laguna pool – the pretty tile and lookout building was fun and romantic.
  3. Banzai Bowl – acai bowls are so refreshing after a morning at the beach or afternoon swim. And my kids love them!
  4. Zinc Cafe & Market – yummy almond milk lattes

Summer is all about sandals, especially versatile ones that multi-task. This week I’m heading to Chicago for eight days for a family wedding, and all I get is a 22″ roll-on bag … which requires a lot of serious thought about what is going in that wee bag! I’ve recently partnered with Vince Camuto and started my outfit planning around this versatile sandal that gives me a lot of mileage for both dressing up and down. I plan on pairing them with stripe lace up tops, oversize knits, and a maxi dress.  I can’t get enough white lately, so I also plan on pairing these VC sandals with lace, cropped jeans and a leather jacket. I love how Vince Camuto has become a fashion focused yet an accessible one stop resource for so many cute shoes! Now, if only I could bring one bag just for shoes . . .

Thinking to give ourselves a little vacation mixed with desert air, we attempted 12 hours in Palm Springs. Well, two hours later we (being 4 adults and 4 children) stiffly rolled out of one SUV. At that point, the Siberian Desert even sounded good. The kids frolicked, the adults laughed with delight, and yes, the scenery was breathtaking. I think I even managed to nab a picture. Together with the breakfast burritos and ricotta pancakes at Kings Highway, it was an all-around success. And lest you wonder, I wore blush, spring’s hottest hue. I really should limit my purchasing of blush items but it’s so flattering to most skin tones – mine being olive- that I don’t see an end in sight.

Summer Shoes

My sister asked me recently what pairs of shoes she needs for Spring? While I could easily chose at least 10, I narrowed it down to just 5 of my go-to pairs below.

  1. CONVERSE I wear chucks up and down. Laid back chic at it’s best. Get them in every color.

2. Espadrille from ASOS (I also love these platforms!) So cute and casual.

3. Platform from FARYLROBIN

4. Black sandal by VINCE

5. A slinky red sandal is a must have – and this one by STEVE MADDEN is no exception. It’s almost embarrassing how much I wear these, but nothing beats that pop of red.

Versatility is key.
