Favorites with Express

I’m always on the lookout for great basics for less, and Express is killing it in the basics department. I’m not only a proud owner of this awesome stripe button up, but I also found some classic ripped jeans and gray frayed jeans as well. But I think the big find of the night was their jersey pant. Folks, write this down. They have the cozy feel of yoga pants but manage to look board meeting ready with flats or heels. I paired it with a simple black tank (it’s been hot here) and flats. I like that it’s a functional outfit that goes well with a blazer (for dressier occasions), or jean jacket for (the farmers market), or yes, just a tank for running errands in hot weather. Loving the super trendy (uber flattering) corset trend. I love it paired with my favorite Levis and a denim jacket. We’re off to the beach and showing my in-laws a good time. After all, it’s Spring Break! Loving easy jeans and cool tops for day dates. For evenings, I would add suede shorts or a pencil skirt. See more in satin blush here.

How to Wear your Stripes

I won’t lie, stripes are probably my favorite print to style, and probably hands down one of the essentials every girl should own in her closet. That said, you should buy yours wisely. Here, I styled the multi stripe button down, with another stripe layer, go-to light wash Levi’s, and barely there heels to make you look longer and leaner, to balance those oh-so-essential prints. Just in time for the weekend. Speaking of, I will be in full birthday mom-mode, celebrating both my boy’s birthdays, 4 yrs, and 6 yrs. Where did my babies go? Overalls are making a comeback – are you ready? The trick is how you style them. I prefer the looser off the shoulder top, nude heels and stripe tunic. It’s a boho chic look that works for casual Friday to farmer’s market Saturdays. Just don’t forget a big bag to collect all your market spoil. Here’s hoping I can convince my 7 year-old to wear her cute overalls with me. But I’m not going to hold my breath since moments together and relationships outweigh even the cutest photo op. PS. 1.     Please briefly introduce yourself.

I’m a wife, mother and creator of the fashion blog Shalicenoel.com

2.     What are the three essential items you’re currently carrying in your Kiosk Tote?

Stila in Beso, Baby wipes, and Kiehls lip butter – so moisturizing!

3.     ESEMBLĒ represents more than just a brand, it carries certain values, attitudes, and ways of living that makes the name unique and enchanting, just like our modern girl. What does it mean to you to be a ‘modern girl’?

Ball juggler, wearer of many hats. None of my friends have one job, they’re juggling multiple professions, as moms, small business owners, and volunteers. It’s an amazing job!


4.     ESEMBLĒ’s brand mantra is to celebrate the little joys in life. What little joys in life do you celebrate?

Enjoying time at the beach with my family. Celebrating my children’s birthdays, their laughs, and snuggling them. Life is too short not to enjoy the little moments.

5.     The quote “The world is your oyster” encourages girls to be fearless in their endeavors – What do you aspire to for your future?

It’s often difficult to find an outfit that can work from business casual to drinks with girlfriends. But I found it.  I mean leggings and a baseball hat are brought to the next level with simple red lip, rope heels and the right sunglasses, am I right? Here I cannot stress enough how versatile an oversize gray sweater is with streamline leatherette pants. Because you don’t have enough lazy days, you can’t have enough cozy gray sweaters. Personally, since a whole lot of running four kids around LA is anything but smooth, I need easy separates I feel good in and work for dinner later at République. You’re welcome. Happy Tuesday!

Sometime a little waist jewelry is all you need to pull an outfit together. A good belt adds structure to a loose tunic and gold detail to an otherwise neutral outfit. Some days – scratch that, most days I want the easiest outfit I can wear to run errands- sneak in a meeting and make it on time for school pick up. Yes, most days the latter is a miracle.  I must admit, there are also the delightful parts of being a mom of four – each child has a distinct humor, character and it’s so fun when they make you laugh and cover you in hugs! I mean where else can you get all that under one roof? I’m wearing all black, my fave ripped denim jacket, black boots and a market bucket bag to hold flowers and my credit card. How to Style Dark Jeans

When asked how best to style dark jeans, I opt for whites and neutrals. Specifically a white off the shoulder top, (I prefer arm inserts for a good fit), clear or neutral bag, and wrap neutral heels. I’m loving a camel and navy combination, but this blazer also works with this black dress. I believe when you’re comfortable, you’re sexy.
