You know the moment you’re not ready for full on extensions but you want the length? That’s where I was hair-wise. A couple months ago we cut four inches off, mostly split ends, in the name of keeping my hair healthy. It was painful, but in the back of my head, I knew I could get length be it clip-ins or extensions. I ended up doing the former with advising from my stylist. We got 18″ color matched to my hair. And to help it blend, my stylist cut both my hair and the extensions to make it fill in nicely. It is fun and somewhat easy to install and great for shoots or events. Or take them out when I don’t want the weight. I mean, who doesn’t like options? Forward any more of your questions and I’ll try and answer them.

Gracias and thank you for ALL of your comments and entries. It made me think that I should do more giveaways! And I wish I had a gift card for each of you! I realized I have A LOT of mom’s that follow the blog, am I right? So, if I told you I’m honestly still tired from Monday’s doctor appointment with all four kids you would believe me. And actually, the kids have it harder because the recovery from shots and blood work is tough on 5, 6, and 8 year olds. They’ve been watching lots of movies and thanks to some Children’s Tylenol, have perked up! I’m usually a fast moving get-lots-of-things-done-in-a-little-time-person and I’m learning to SLOW DOWN and even sit on the couch with them, ask them what is their favorite thing to do with mommy? Ask your kids that, especially if you have multiple children. Mine said “Go on a date” so we will do just that, even if it is to Ralph’s for a couple packs of gum to make memories, foster relationships and an effort to freeze these fleeting moments.

To celebrate my 3-year blog anniversary, I’m giving away what I would want to receive: $100 to spend at Nordstrom. It also happens to be the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this week. Get excited. It’s seriously so good and I usually score some great essentials that carry me through to fall.
I started shalicenoel.com after I had my 4th child and needed an outlet. Hooray for hobbies that turn into legit jobs! I painstakingly created flatlay #ootd’s on our wood floor, took 100 shoe seflies #fromwhereistand and chased the light before I went in to make dinner. I use the word ‘painstakingly’ because I was doing the flatlays between replenishing my little people’s water cups, wiping bottoms, answering the door, and cleaning up the baby powder before someone slipped in it. To say it’s been a roller coaster is an understatement. So many highs, like awesome partnerships with Burberry and Nordstrom, and lows – oh, I have a sick kid AND a deadline. Hmm, how’s this going to look? I’ve learned by trial and error what works and what doesn’t, but I always seem to be reevaluating weekly. I have days that I question what I do, and I think any working mom will empathize. But at the end of the day it’s about relationships and you only do what you can do. We’re only human. I’m thankful to my omnipotent God, my supportive husband, patient children and good coffee.

You can easily return the one that doesn’t fit since there is free shipping both ways. Making Dinner Look Complicated, the Easy Way
Dinner time in our house is all about making sure those little mouths are fed. We don’t usually spend a lot of time on presentation because there’s not much time to spend. But there’s a simple way to dress up dinner when you want to feel like a master chef on a weeknight: Pesto. A few tablespoons can turn baked chicken into Italian Chicken – top it with some tomato slices and you’ve got a gourmet meal on your hands, with about 5 minutes of prep.
That said, I like to make my own pesto to keep on hand for just such a culinary occasion.
Homemade Basil Pesto
What You’ll Need:
4 C Fresh Basil Leaves (about 3 bunches)
1/2 C Grapeseed Oil + a drizzle or two
1/3 C Pine Nuts
2 Garlic Cloves
1 t Salt
How You’ll Do It:
1 – Toast the pine nuts. To do this, put the nuts in a dry skillet (no oil here) and cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently for about 3-5 minutes or until golden. Take them out of the pan and let them cool on a plate for a minute.
2- Put everything in a blender and blend until paste forms. You’ll want a spatula to push the basil down every so often.
3 – Store your pesto in a jar and drizzle a layer of oil on top. This keeps it from oxidizing and will help maintain that fresh green color. It’ll keep for about a week in the fridge or up to six months in the freezer
If I were to give you any styling advice, I’d say: style an outfit around one piece. be it a stripe tee, a polka dot skirt, a blue bag, or a wrap heel. And then add in the following quality basics: denim, crisp white blouses, a statement bag and designer shoes. Even though I’m the last person to live by less is more (just look at my mess of a shoe closet), less really is more. And I hope to pass down the AGL shoes, the Chloé satchel and MCM bag to my daughters who have already put dibs on them. Just maybe I can train them to help me organize my shoe closet first.

In my personal opinion, everyone needs a chill, off-the-shoulder dress that works for both errands (in gladiator sandals) and date night (with a wedge). Sometimes one needs practical and efficient, as well as fashionable. I’ve been budgeting my time by shooting looks once a week, writing copy when Reid is home and posting daily here at the blog.
