You can’t beat the movement. I like to pair it simply – with classic jeans and chelsea boots. Don’t overthink it. Although I’m the queen of overthinking, I digress. If you like fall as much as I do, do yourself a favor, buy ahead, and marvel at the styling options. The cherry on top, is that it is just $25. Just stay away from your toddler’s cute lil sticky hands.

Q & A

1. How is it having a large family in Los Angeles? I think it’s important to know what places, and neighborhoods are more kid friendly etc. Read my post on 5 kid friendly LA.

2. When do you style outfits? Honestly, some of the best “editing” i.e. trying on, taking off, and more mixing, less matching happens when the house is quiet, the last child has gone to sleep! I can gather my thoughts, write copy, and return emails.

3. Tell us something we don’t know . . . Well, I have 250 pairs of shoes in my house, but can never find a pen. True Story.

4. Will we be seeing any short videos coming soon? Yes! Glad you asked, we filmed one last week coming soon! Eeek! I’m somewhat camera shy, so it was fun to crawl out of my shell. Meanwhile, just enjoy my short boomerangs on Instagram.

5. Where are you going next? I’m planning a trip to NYC, so comment with your must see, must eat, must drink, must everything.

6. Tell us about your week  . . . My family has been in town which means we’re going to the beach, using 14 eggs for scrambled eggs in the morning and using lots of paper plates. No shame! And did I mention, there’s an inch of sand on my floors? It has been a treat seeing the cousins bond all over again since last seeing each other in January. If you think about it, its really just a short time together before they all part ways, some to different schools and a very wide 2200 miles away from each other. I get choked up just thinking about it. I am also needing versatility in my dressing since time is always of the essence as a busy mom.

Any Last Words? Sometimes you just need a $39 dress worn as a top, and laugh about all the scrambled eggs on the floor. Memories in the making.

I recently stumbled upon the cutest trapeze dress. Its great with gladiators or these hiro heels. Special shout out to the hubs for choosing my shoes for the post. He said the pattern of the shoes matches the pattern on the dress. How’s that for an Architect’s opinion? Love him. I’ll definitely be sporting this swingy dress again to beat this Cali heat.

All white, of course. A romantic ruffle top is just enough femininity for a structured jean. Don’t forget to add olive heels (on sale!) and a colorful bag. I’m sharing how I wear my new Hanes Cool Comfort underwear: the boy shorts, hipsters, and bikinis – from getting ready in the morning for meetings to Friday date night. I love that their underwear doesn’t have a tag. So comfy!

I get asked a lot as a busy wife and mom how to look good and feel comfortable and confident. Or as Hanes like to call it – comfydent.

Here are a couple tips to doing just that:

1. You feel most confident when you’re comfortable. I’m not talking sweat pants and pizza on the couch (though that sounds awesome). I’m talking about pairing a classic Hanes tank and comfy underwear with an edgy leather jacket, and black jeans, so you can be secretly comfortable and terribly chic.

2. Do steal your hubby’s Hanes tanks – I’ve been for years.

3. Follow your gut. Some days I feel like wearing jeans – some days cutoffs and a sweater. I usually look better when I follow that gut and wear what I feel like wearing.

4. Join me! Do share your comfy, confident (and chic) look by using the hashtag: #becomfydent.

As a heads up, I’m partnering with Hanes for a couple months sharing how I, as a busy mom, wear comfy undergarments. Read more at www.Hanes.com. Thank you Hanes for partnering on this post.

2016_07_23_ShaliceNoel9-557-Edit Express has stepped it up and I’m a big fan. I usually look for items I can wear over (and over) like this striped blouse (never enough stripes) and these flare pants. Since Los Angeles doesn’t have seasons, I will still manage to find a reason to don these flare pants and layer to my hearts content.Gotta love versatile and easy-to-style pieces! I’m loving this tank from Express’ One Eleven line with super soft modal blend and a built-in choker. So on trend and under $25. Virtually a no-brainer.

Thank you so much for reading, and thank you to EXPRESS for partnering on this post!

Work Out Wednesday

Get Musical

This week I thought I’d share a playlist to get you through your workout. It’s an hour of tunes to get you warmed up then pumped up, and even cooled down. I chose my music carefully because I need a great beat that makes me forget I’m sweating, but I also want to make sure it’s something my kids can overhear without having an awkward conversation. So this playlist is full of confidence boosters and upbeat melodies that might make you want to lace up those sneakers.

And since workout Wednesday isn’t complete without an actual workout, I’m introducing a move I like to call Madonna Arms. Because, I mean…come on. Have you seen her arms? This move requires music, but no equipment, so drop the dumbbells and pump the jams.

Madonna Arms

First, you’ll need a song – something that’s at least 3 minutes, but don’t get too ambitious because 3 minutes can feel like a lifetime if you do this right. My pick is number 13 on the playlist – Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” – because it’s full of the attitude and inspiration you’ll need to keep up the workout.

While the song is playing you’ll stand with your arms stretched straight out from your sides, palms facing down. Pulse them up and down while the music plays.

Every 30 seconds you’ll switch the direction of your palms (without dropping your arms) they can face up, down, front and back.

Once you’ve done all those directions, try doing tiny circles forward, then backward for 30 seconds in every position. Whatever you do, don’t drop those arms until the last note is sung. Then you have full permission to rest those arms for the rest of the day.

Even though my jeans are looking more off-white these days, I’m making the case for white monochrome. And besides the fact that I drop ketchup and chocolate on myself most days, (I’m worse than my kids), all white really is as chic as it gets. Its flattering and like black, looks best when its done in monochrome with a side of sneaker and a leather jacket. You know, to keep you looking put together between the soccer practice and doctor visits.

The fastest way to the biggest impact with the littlest effort? A pop of red. If you hadn’t guessed already from my grams, this color is my secret sauce. Come fall, pair it with wine and don’t forget to layer on the denim. Some people have an immediate antipathy to red, and if this is you, take heart! There are so many shades of red out there now that you’re bound to find something that fits your coloring and/or skin-tone. Don’t write it off! If you still can’t manage it, then go check out the gobs of red accessories out there. Is it cliche to say that red is the new black? Cause it totally is.
