Here’s a sneak peek of the “athleisure” pieces I’ve been loving lately, I mean, how great is this mesh top? What’s better than mixing an everyday trench coat with a mesh workout top and leggings? So fun and secretly, soooo comfy.

It’s no secret, over-the-knee boots are the must-have of the season. Wear them up or down, with leggings or skinny jeans, and recently I even wore mine with a ruffle dress (more of that to come!). Talk about versatility! I love the fit-like-a-glove feel and the heel isn’t too high to make chasing my 3 year-old an impossibility. As I’m sure you know by now, the kid’s got tons of personality and spunk so chasing him happens more than I’d like. Below, I show 6 OTK boots for every desired heel height and budget, from $69 to $875. See also how I styled them here. Don’t forget, you’ve got until midnight tonight to enter the ring giveaway!

As a busy mom, I tend to keep things pretty simple because my life is anything but. Lots of “oops” happen when you are traveling with kids, and the way to prepare for that is to simplify. First off, in order of importance, pack blankies and snacks. Do not forget either or there will be general mayhem. For you, pack basics, NOT outfits. Of course, if you’re packing for a specific occasion that makes sense, but four days in Sedona mandates a swimsuit, tees, cut-offs, sneakers, and a great book. See? Simple.

As for my 6 travel essentials:

1 travel duffel / 2 bell sleeve blouse / 3 trench coat / 4 leather like leggings / 5 slinky heels / 6 chic sneakers / the rest are details: basics – soft tees, toiletries (deserves a whole post in itself) and snacks for kids (also deserves a separate post), and maps and travel guides.

I can’t wait for our next adventure!

What are some of your tips?

Camoflage is that pop of edge I love adding to my layers, a camo tee under a trench coat? Yes, please. I rounded up some pretty cool camoflage threads sure to turn heads, and vamp up your look in a nonchalant kind of way. Which is your favorite? Also, don’t miss my 4 special tees HERE. Happy humpday!

It’s back to school this week, and although I’m feeling the pains of routine (i.e. getting the kids out the door by 8am), it’s good to be back. This winter, it’s all about upping your layering game. And apparently January in LA mandates all the layers as its been so chilly and wet. Here, I paired a bell sleeve sweater and studded military jacket with simple jeans and heels. I love that I could also pair this sweater with a black leather jacket for a black and gray look. Stylist tip: order one size up in sweaters or tees to get that cozy off-the-shoulder-look. And THANK YOU for entering the Jane Pope ring giveaway! If you missed it, you can still sign up till the 13th, details in this post. Happy Tuesday!

Partnering with Nordstrom is always a favorite job because their style and selection never disappoints, which makes my job that much easier. Today I’m going to go out on a limb and make a case for the lesser known cousin to traditional denim, the coated denim. With all the denim everywhere, it’s always good to mix it up. Here are my top 5 faves from Nordstrom.  The burgundy denim boasts a post-Christmas, binge-friendly lycra waistband, a flattering leg, and not to mention, an awesome price. As soon as these arrived in the mail, I tried them on, did my usual tight-jean dance and called these a winner. As for styling tips, I went with my usual size and paired it with an oversize distressed sweater and my husband’s scarf. The latter was meant to be a Christmas gift to him, but like I always tell the kids, “Sharing is Caring.” See also how I styled a scarf with Nordstrom HERE and shop my coated denim look below. Which was your favorite?

Thank you Nordstrom for partnering on this post! All opinions are my own.

One of our bucket list items has always been Yosemite. Big trees, bigger mountains and stunning stone ridges, did I mention waterfalls? I only read about and saw distant pictures of it but to see it in person, is like in the middle of the Grand Canyon so vast, untouched, and wild. While it was a chilly 38 degrees, and we attempted a couple hikes by the falls, all we could think about was the hot chocolate in our little chalet. And little it was but there is something alluring about cozy cottages around the holidays. So good. I think the kids spent most of the day up in the little chalet loft while the hubs and I cooked (well, defrosted, Portuguese stew called “Feijoda).” The latter takes me right into my first tip. If you’re renting a cabin, bring obviously lots of snacks, waters, organic cinnamon rolls (from a tube) and FROZEN dinners. Who wants to cook on vacation? For lunches, we enjoyed the tasty spread at Tanaya Lodge and Big Fir Lodge for their cozy ambience and yummy burgers. For fun, if Badger Pass is open, don’t forget to bring car chains, ski’s and warm thermal underwear. In the end, I’m so grateful we did this short 4-day getaway, just what we needed. Don’t underestimate a rest from the hustle of the holidays, school events, LA traffic for some family bonding in the woods. From the oldest to youngest, we all felt the bond.

What’s on your vacation bucket list?

If you wanna switch up your jean game, why not try flares? Prepare to get tons of compliments and bonus they go with the neutral basics you already have in your closet. Here I styled them with a silky tank, classic trench and black strap heel. I wore this to a recent day date and the layers were completely necessary as it was only  55 degrees and windy! Who knew corduroy was so warm? Nevertheless, loving that it’s warm, gives off a quintessential 70’s vibe and looks like we’ll be seeing more of it.

As for New Years resolutions, mine is to say ‘yes’ to what’s important, be ok with saying ‘no,’ and be fully present where I am. Whether I’m playing on the floor with my kids or creating content for a brand. Making EVERY moment count.

What’s yours?
