If you subscribe to my newsletter, you may have already seen this. But if you’re like most people, we want to spend smarter in 2019. Do you agree? I did some research and found the 7 ways to spend less in 2019 from cutting your latte intake to staying in. Read on!

1. Say goodbye to joe.According to research, average American’s spends approx 1,100$ or $3 a day on coffee

Even if you just buy a $2 latte four days a week, you’d still have spent $6,149.98 after 10 years.

2. Stop collecting, start selling. There are some great sites out there where you can sell your goods: eBay, Poshmark, ReBag, etc.

3. Turn off the TV. According to research, you’ll save more than just on your electricity bill. You will be exposed to less spend inducing ads, end your cable coverage, focus on other things like a side gig, etc.

4. Stick to your list. Just ask Reid, I’m horrible at his, but when I stick to the list I save myself from the last minute impulse buys!

5. Break out the crock or insta pot. I just bought my first insta pot cookbook!

6. Going out or staying in. STAY IN! Save lots of benjamins when you stay in!

7. Cancel the gym membership you don’t use. download an app and do it with a friend for accountability

What about you, what ways are you spending smarter in 2019? I’d love to hear!

What I’m wearing:

jeans “farrow instaslim” I loved wearing these after I had Levi because they were so flattering // graphic tee // camel coat similar // mules and the flat version //

I’ll be honest, packing for a ski trip is one of the most challenging to prepare for. Let alone with kids. The layers, the ski gear, the goggles, the extra thick socks, sweaters, and don’t get me started on the puffy coats!! But it is one of our family’s FAVORITE vacations. I mean, is there anything greater than skiing down a mountain together? I share more of our first trip to Vail, CO here.

We leave Sunday for Vail, CO so packing has been in the works for a couple weeks, ordering things like hats, gloves and snow suit for Levi, a ski coat for myself and Reid and a snow pants for my 5′ tall 10 year old that is growing like a weed!

Ok, you ask, what did you pack? FYI, here’s my last post on what I ordered for our trip!

Canada Goose Ski Jacket I got it in small (the vest is cute too)// (flattering) Ski Pants // Slippers to walk around the condo // Burberry scarf // Boot with red laces // Vintage inspired knit // “Ski” sweater similar// the red print sweater in my flat lay (FYI go up a size, I could’ve gone with a medium. It runs small // Moon Boots (I’ve always wanted an excuse to buy these!) // White and black turtlenecks

Where did you shop for good baby clothes?

H&M. As much as I like characters and cute teddy bears, I like his clothing to be character free, easy separates and I order a lot of them from H&M! His snowsuit is very warm and I ordered a size 9-12 mos, since he’s gotten quite long!

Can you recommend some good packing cubes?

Yes! Packing cubes help you save SO much space!

OK, I’ve been wondering about this, which ski coat did you get?

I opted for casual and classic. THIS ONE fit the bill. I also like THIS VEST worn over a long turtleneck sweater, faux leather leggings and moon boots.

Where can I find more affordable ski options?

After I had shopped for everything, I discovered the Outnet has ski items, game changer! Check it out. Also, Topshop has some cute ski options.

What do you bring for snacks on the plane and for the ride from Denver to Vail?

I’ll bring gum, mints, kale chips, turkey jerky, and raw almonds.

Don’t forget to check the weather before you go. It should be snowing every day we are there. The weather will justify me bringing 4 turtlenecks!

More sweaters below!

I love a good scarf and its no secret on the gram.

jacket is zara, here is one very similar! // Burberry scarf (love the pop of yellow!)// camel turtleneck // levi’s // bag cc Polène Paris

Many of you asked what my favorite popcorn seasoning is, and it is NACHO SEASONING. My kids and I are obsessed and always making it over the weekend.

1/4 c nutritional yeast // 1 tsp salt // 1 tsp ground paprika // 1/2 tsp of each garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, 1/4 tsp ground cumin // 3/4 cup coconut oil, melted, 8 cups popped popcorn

Combine nutritional yeast, salt and spices in aa small bowl. Drizzle oil over popped popcorn and spice mixture.

Enjoy and have a great week!

We went to the farmers market and bought tons of veggies and made Bok Choy Soup. It’s super easy! To make it, boil 8 cups of filtered water with 2 “not chicken’ chicken broth cubes, after about 10 min of boiling, add 2 bunches of baby bok choy. Enjoy!

Who said fashion is unattainable? These leopard mules are $28

I found out this week that Chloé sunglasses are 50% off, no, that’s not a typo!

Many of my followers ask for a similar turquoise ring to mine, so here’s a similar one! Also, how cute are these earrings?

I wanna try these gummy hair vitamins. Have you tried them? If you have Golden Goose Sneakers like mine, try these NO SHOW socks, so good.

Have you tried these tan mist for the face? It has great reviews, I’m intrigued.

Just bought my daughter these GGB dupes so she can match with me. They’re a $30 Amazon no brainer.

How cute are these leopard pillows?

I haven’t bought a YETI yet to keep beverages warm. Have you?

I get asked a lot what pilates ring I use, and this is the one!

We’re having people over on Sunday, I’m going to try this recipe for salmon and brussel sprouts my favorite!

Just add a Blazer

by Shalice Noel

blazer and similar // jeans under $100! // tank only $10! // flats and similar

Nothing says you mean business like a blazer and I’m loving this oversize version. I love this outfit for meetings and after school activities. Who else keeps a pair of sneakers in their car? I rounded up some favorites blazers below:

This week, I haven’t been going to events but rather running at the park every day with the kiddos, and being intentional. I’m intentionally not booking up my week like weeks past. This allows me to be more present with my kids and meet them where they need to be met with anything they are facing. When I’m stressed from being in 3 hours of traffic, I’m not the best mom I can be. So, saying no to events on the west side and opening my week has been a blessing.

I also went off coffee, can you believe? I won’t lie, I do miss it but I am less jittery and more peaceful this week. My collagen powder just now goes into hot almond milk. Its not amazing, but hey it works and I’m still getting my protein and collagen. Read more of my routine HERE. What about you, how was your week?

So many good graphic tees! Here’s some faves below:

https://rstyle.me/n/de3kdb8gb6
  1. teddy coat (with removable hood) // 2. tee // 3. sports bra (under $40) // 4. leggings (30% off) // 5. adidas sneakers

Whether you prefer running, walking, pilates or yoga, Nordstrom has you covered. I recently found these awesome moto leggings 30% off, sports bra, and $15 tee (I knotted at the waist) online at Nordstrom.com. I’m in a very busy season of life so online shopping is my GOTO like any busy mom right? I read this teddy coat has a removable hood, so I thought it would be great for Lake Arrowhead as well as running errands with the kiddos post workout. As for these leggings, I plan to style them with an oversize sweater, tank and booties for a less I-just-left-the-gym look. Athleisure, anyone?

What island likes to have a lot of sweets? A deserted island J OK…OK…so we decided to head to the desert right after Christmas, but due to our unexpected trip to the Midwest, we ended up adjusting our dates so we could spend New Year’s Eve at The Miramonte Indian Wells Resort. Indian Wells is in the Coachella Valley (book now for festival season) between Palm Desert and La Quinta.

It’s funny how we left 12-degree temperatures in Omaha on December 29, and we were expecting hot desert temperatures to come home to. Well, we happened to come home to a cold snap and the temps in the desert were 60 degrees and below! We are so wimpy now. Needless to say, always check the weather before you pack. We took a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park and needed our winter clothes! I still grinned and bared it to get some fashion content but wow was I cold! All for the gram!

The Miramonte Indian Wells Resort is super family friendly with Spanish style architecture and beautifully landscaped grounds. Our room was garden level with a citrus garden outside our door. The grounds crew even picked some lemons and oranges for us and brought them to our door. The property also has a rose garden and an area with a life-size Connect Four game and bean bag toss, which the kids really enjoyed. We were disappointed because it was too cold for the pool. Although the kids totally would have gone for it if we had let them. We’ll have to return in the spring. The resort also has a spa and adult only hideaway pool.

Considering the cold temperatures, our favorite amenity was the fire pits scattered throughout the resort. You can even book a smores package and snuggle up together at sunset with melted marshmallow stickiness goodness.

For our hotel room New Year’s Eve bash, we picked up some root beer, sparkling juice, gummy bears, lollipops and popcorn. Whole Foods is a five-minute drive from the hotel. The room was spacious enough for a little dance party as we counted down the New Year. Here’s the nice thing about being on Pacific Standard Time – we celebrate the New Year at New York City time, then we all go to bed early. Does anybody else do this?

Despite the temperature hickup, it was a great trip and we’re definitely looking forward to our next visit!

I’m not sure what I love more – leggings I can style an oversized sweater with or leggings that double as loungewear and workout gear. Why not have it all? That’s how I feel whenever I walk into lululemon. I could probably pick one of everything, but I decided to share my top five favorites I found on a recent visit to my local lululemon store along with some real talk on working out. Because honestly, finding time to get to the gym is hard. But the idea of some fresh new lululemon items in my closet to help kick off my 2019 fitness goals sounds amazing. Because who doesn’t love new workout gear to inspire a good sweat session?

First, you may have noticed I said “goals”, not resolutions. And that’s because I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, but I do believe in New Year’s goals. I am a proponent of establishing yearly goals in all areas of our lives. This year, my top challenge to myself is to work out regularly from my home gym and have a close friend keep me accountable – maybe even babysit while I’m in the zone.

For me, it’s incredibly therapeutic getting my workout done. This past year, though, it was a real challenge to make it to our gym. Can you relate? Life gets so busy and before you know it, the gym isn’t even a priority anymore. If you’re looking for a little encouragement in this department, here are two tips I like to remember when digging for motivation.

1. New Gear
Spend some money on a sports bra that fits. This is so important, ladies! One of my favorite things about lululemon is they’ll fit you while you’re at the store. Also, buy items you love and feel good in. Let’s be honest, cute, high-quality workout gear often gets me motivated!

2. Get an Accountability Partner
Whether this person is your hubby or a close girlfriend, just get one. I find it incredibly helpful. Thankfully my husband loves working out, so we plan on putting together a lot of workout content for couples to do together. Stay tuned for that… and keep me accountable!!!!

My 5 Favorites from lululemon

In 20 days we leave for Vail, CO to ski as a family! I’m starting to pack now for our trip. I’m still waiting on some turtlenecks and goggles coming in the mail, otherwise I’m feeling good about packing early! I can’t wait for our private ski lesson and enjoying more snowy conditions than last year. I’ll be sure to capture many pictures of my kiddos in ski gear, because it is THE CUTEST. Admittedly, my 7 year old is a better skier than I am and went down more blues than I did! Sadly, that’s the truth! Which is your favorite ski sweater, coat?

No, it’s not too soon to think about Valentine’s Day. Afterall, it is only 31 days away. I’m the last minute kind of girl, but this year not so much. I found this LRD Little Red Dress at Rebecca Minkoff recently, and fell in love. It’s flowy, sports a flattering waistband, a nice length and I love the sleeve detail. I think it would be flattering on petite or tall, a true sign of a good dress.

I’m so grateful for 11 years of marriage, and what better time to celebrate your partner than Valentine’s Day? I’m so grateful for Reid’s sacrifice for our family. His quiet leadership, patience, and simple kindness bless our family daily. Today, I’m sharing 5 tips for a successful marriage:

1. Make a list of all his positive traits
Marriage is hard. Make it the best it can be

2. Make her HAPPY (hubby’s tip for a happy marriage) And hey, this makes me happy 🙂

3. If you’re angry, take a breather. Get alone, get a coffee and chat about it later.
